At 9:59 am Tuesday morning, fire crews attacked a vegetation fire on Lone Tree Way at the Antioch and Brentwood border that sent a large smoke cloud into the sky.
Crews attacked the fire from all angles with engines on Lone Tree Way, Jeffery Way, and from the Highway 4 bypass. The incident caused police to block off Jeffery Way.

According to a police officer, the fire burned towards Lone Tree Way and burned itself out leaving crews to attack the hot spots. As of 12:35 pm, crews are still on scene watching for flare ups. Crews from East Contra Costa Fire Protection District and Contra Costa Fire Protection District participated in the incident while both Antioch and Brentwood Police also were on scene and did a fine job with traffic control.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and is under investigation.
