Discovery Bay: William Shultz Now in Custody of Sheriffs Office

Shortly before 3:30 pm, Contra Costa County Sheriffs Deputies took 18-year-old William Shultz of Discovery Bay into custody at a local hospital. Yesterday, Schultz was held on a 5150 but was released.

According to Sheriffs Spokesman Jimmy Lee, Schultz knows the family but did not elaborate.

No further details have been provided.

Suspect Sought in Discovery Bay Homicide

The Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff is currently seeking William Shultz in connection with a homicide that was reported this morning.

William Shultz is an 18-year-old Discovery Bay resident. He is described as:

White male, 6′,2″, 170 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. He is believed to be driving a 4-door 2009 Chevy Silverado with California license plate – 8W92639.

Shultz is wanted in connection with a homicide that occurred in Discovery Bay. This morning at about 10:03, the Office of the Sheriff received a report of a stabbing on the 1900 block of Frost Way. When Deputies arrived on scene, the victim, a 9-year-old boy, had already been taken to the hospital by a family member. He was pronounced deceased at the hospital. He is not being identified at this time.

Deputies identified Schultz as the suspect and began searching for him. Law enforcement agencies in the area have been notified. Detectives are trying to establish a motive in the case.
