On Friday, December 16, 2016 at around 2 p.m., Brentwood officers responded to Straw Hat Pizza located at 6680 Lone Tree Way to investigate a report of a solo vehice into the building. When officers and medical personnel arrived on scene, they discovered the vehicle collided with the exterior wall, situated on the north side of the building causing moderate damage to the vehicle and building.
The solo occupant of the vehicle, a 70 year-old Discovery Bay resident was found in the driver seat unresponsive. Medical personnel immediately initiated medical aid prior to transporting the driver to an area hospital. His current condition is unknown and nobody else was injured in the collision. Preliminary information suggests the driver suffered a medical emergency causing him to lose control of his vehicle prior to colliding into the building.
The exact cause of the collision remains under investigation. Any witnesses are asked to contact Traffic Officer Mitch Alvarez at 925-809-7741.

According to Walter O’Grodnick of the Brentwood Police, he said Saturday the driver of this collision was unfortunately pronounced deceased yesterday afternoon of an apparent heart complication – not a result of the collision. He did not identify the man.
