Discovery Bay: 17-Year-Old Airlifted to Hospital After Skateboard Fall

by ECT

At 8:30 pm Thursday, a 17-year-old male patient was located laying in the roadway in the 4400 block of Clipper Drive with a head injury resulting from a fall from his skate board.

East Contra Costa Fire Protection District firefighters and American Medical Response responded to the scene and requested a medical helicopter. The incident closed down a portion of the roadway and a nearby field was used for the helicopter spot.

While Engine 59 was assisting with patient care, Engine 52 worked to water down the field to limit the amount of dust and debris from impacting patient care during the loading of the patient into the helicopter.

The patient was transported to John Muir Trauma Center in Walnut Creek.

It is unclear what caused the patient to fall off his skateboard and no further details were provided.

No idea what caused him to fall. You’re kidding, right? Skateboarding is a dangerous sport. I hope this young man recovers fully from his head injury.
