Contra Costa Firefighters Host MDA Fill the Boot in Antioch, Walnut Creek

by ECT

Fill the Boot is returning today to Contra Costa County and will be in Antioch and Walnut Creek from from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.

  • Antioch – corner of Auto Center Dr and Century Blvd
  • Walnut Creek – corner of Ygnacio Valley Rd. and Oak Grove Rd.

For 60 years, Fill the Boot has been a fire fighter tradition – giving families affected by muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases hope for the future and support for the present.

Every year your local firefighters dedicate their time off from work to help raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s (MDA) Fill the Boot charity drive. Throughout the year, and across the nation, firefighters dressed in their firefighting gear ask for donations from drivers on street corners and intersections while holding up their firefighter boots.

In the last two years the IAFF has raised over $40 million dollars which has helped fund the development and approval of many drugs to help people around the world overcome specific neuromuscular diseases. This year with the funds we will raise, our local MDA office will be able to put on two different camps for almost 100 local Bay Area kids and help over 350 families we have in Contra Costa County.

If you are unable to donate on the specific event days you can also now donate online through the secure page here.

MDA is a nonprofit dedicated to curing muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases by funding worldwide research. MDA also provides comprehensive health care and support services, advocacy and education.
