CCTA Provides Photos of Latest Sand Creek Concrete Pour

by ECT

Here are some neat photographs that were provided to me by the Contra Costa Transportation Authority on the work being done in East County. The photos below show the Lean Concrete Base being poured at Sand Creek. The LCB is part of the roadway structural section and lies below the asphalt concrete which will placed on top of it.

About the Project:

The Sand Creek Road Interchange Project will widen SR4 from 2 to 4 lanes (2 in each direction) from Lone Tree Way to Sand Creek Road.  The project also includes the construction of the Sand Creek Road Interchange and will provide a median wide enough to accommodate mass transit.

These improvements will result in much needed congestion relief and improve mobility for the residents of East Contra Costa County.

Contractor: Bay Cities/Myers, Joint Venture

Timeline: Construction began in June 2012.  Estimated date of completion is Spring 2014.

Thanks for these pictures. Is there a status update on the Sand Creek Road extension from Hwy 4 to Deer Valley Rd (I believe it is supposed to connect near Kaiser)?

We just wish they would finish one project before starting another. Forget about going anywhere you are blocked in at every street/ramp. Back roads don’t help because every one else in Antioch/Brentwood are trying to use them also. I hope I live to see all of this finished.
