Brentwood Police say that the intersection at Brentwood Blvd. and Balfour will be shut down for several hours as they investigate a Saturday morning vehicle crash that left one patient in critical condition.
According to radio traffic, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to a report of a vehicle accident at 7:00 am at the intersection. Brentwood Police were first on scene and suggested additional AMR units were required and a medical helicopter was needed due to a 10-year-old in the back seat.
By 7:15 am, ECCFPD Engine 52 reported a total of 5 patients with 1 patient suffering from critical injuries, another suffering from moderate injuries, and 3 patients with minor injuries (AMA).
In total, 3 AMR ambulances were requested to the scene along with a medical helicopter.
By 7:30 am, Brentwood Police Lieutenant Tim Herbert issued an advisory that the intersection will be shut down for several hours as police were responding to the crash scene to conduct an investigation.
He offered no further details as investigators were not yet at scene and he had no update on patient conditions.

- Brentwood Police announced at 10:00 am that the roadway was now open.
