East Contra Costa Fire Protection District (ECCFPD) announced Thursday that they have selected their Fire Chief for a Day contest winner, Chief Jessie. Our new Chief is 7-years-old and she lives in the City of Brentwood. Chief Jessie is in the 1st grade.

On November 7th the District will introduce Chief Jessie to the ECCFPD Fire Board at their regularly scheduled meeting. The new Chief will then assume her duties for the day on November 11th beginning with her swearing in at District Headquarters.

The winning student was selected by blind drawing of all entry forms and the parents/guardians were contacted on Monday, October 17, 206.

The District hosted open houses at all four fire stations between October 9th through 16th with over 1,400 visitors participating in fire prevention activities.

“This is the first time the District has held the contest and we look forward in the coming years to many future guest Fire Chiefs for the Day” said Hugh Henderson, Fire Chief.  “I’m looking forward to an exciting day of sharing District activities with Chief Jessie” Henderson added.

Additional details on Chief Jessie’s schedule will be released at a later date.
