Assemblyman Jim Frazier Statement on Trump’s Decision to End DACA

SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Jim Frazier (D-Discovery Bay) today issued the following statement after the Trump administration announced today it will end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program that began under the Obama administration.

“I am disappointed the Trump administration has decided to terminate a program that in five years of existence has protected nearly 800,000 people who are as American as anybody. In California alone, more than 220,000 residents have benefited from DACA – these people are our friends, neighbors and co-workers. Many thousands have started families and careers and studied at universities in California and across the nation. Most of these individuals have never known another home other than the United States. Polling shows that the DACA program has strong bipartisan support. It is supported by employers, educators and elected officials from both parties. President Trump left the door open for Congress to save the protections created under DACA. We must urge Congress to take action to preserve these protections.”

  1. Everyone in this world wants things to be better for their children than they had it. We cannot allow parent to dump their children into the U.S. for us to support them. If you are not born here you shouldn’t be here. What a SHAME.

  2. Jim Frazier, Pluuuuze…….don’t let the door hit you on the way out. OBVIOUSLY you are out of touch with the MAJORITY of Americans. You have been burning bridges from the onset of your short political run. For the Love of God, Stop pandering and get a real job.

  3. Jim,
Your position on this aligns with every other Democrat in the Country, that’s an easy stance. What you left out was the solution to the problem… which is illegal Aliens bringing children across the border. How would you propose the “American People” be protected from that?

  4. Assemblyman Frazier,

In your very first sentence you are quick to chastise the President for doing the right thing, when you said “I am disappointed the Trump administration has decided to terminate a program that in five years of existence has protected nearly 800,000 people who are as American as anybody.” But in your last sentence, you were less expeditious to hold Congress accountable for real, positive Immigration Reform when you said “President Trump left the door open for Congress to save the protections created under DACA. We must urge Congress to take action to preserve these protections.” Not once did you mention in your statement about the illegal Executive Action taken by the former President, that you knew the night he signed it, might possibly, (depending on the results of the November Presidential election) put those several hundred thousand dreamers in Jeopardy. This horrible scenario was created by Democrats, and once again, a Republican Congress will, like a Tow Truck in the middle of the night, will arrive on the scene to hopefully fix it. These Dreamers protesting in every major American City, need some School House Rock so they understand better how our democracy works, because it (citizenship) is just not handed to you–ask friends I have who are going thru the long arduous process now.

  5. Assemblyman Frazier,

You state, “Most of these individuals have never known another home other than the United States.” Well, sir, many people who grew up in one country, for various reasons could not continue to live in that country, but had to pick everything up and move to another country. Look at the refugees from countries like Syria, etc.

After WWII, millions of people had to leave their country and seek another! Most were highly educated people and they became what was called DISPLACED PERSONS…… most were from Eastern Europe where their education and political views would put them in danger of being sent to labor camps in the Siberian area… or worse.

Through the Marshal Plan, they were resettled in the United States, Canada and many headed for Australia. Few knew the language. My grandparents anticipated such events and did speak English and could establish themselves here. Grandmother was a physician (MD) and Grandfather was a Geologist who wound up working for NASA. They were resilient as all people must be because you never know when you will have to move elsewhere and what’s waiting for you there. There are no guarantees in life.

    • Dawn, Jimmy don’t care about any of this except getting reelected to a cushy suit job in Sacramento. Period.

  6. No illegals should be in our schools (whether primary, high schools or universities), taking advantage of the American taxpayers. Employers who give them jobs should be sanctioned.

  7. Frazier…. Are you also in favor of a huge babysitting complex paid by the taxpayers? Get real. They do not belong here along with their illegal parents. How would you like one hundred orphans dropped off at your front door? Are you going to take them in your house and financially support them ? The American people want illegals out or legal. We are a country united with laws, not a drop off zone. Get legal or get out. Many of my friends had to go through the citizenship process. The same goes for illegals.

  8. Jim,
We have a Constitution, and a bill of rights. We have laws, and borders, we have unemployed Veterans who cannot get financial aid for housing or education. We have far too many y Californians who are homeless, who suffer mental health issues and cant get the assistance they need due to lack of funding. We have illegal aliens sucking up resources that should be going to the citizens of our county. American citizens who have paid into Social Security and now need to collect what is rightfully theirs but can’t because bureaucrats and politicians make it next to impossible. The disabled who have paid into the fund have to fight against a system that changes the rules as it sees fit because it’s more important to give the money to illegal aliens. Why because that’s who are going support your agenda.
Maybe it’s time you get out of politics. Go back to banging nails. Run you business with undocumented workers, (dreamers as you call them). Hell you can set up a non-profit, charge exuberant speaking fees, buy a nice piece of land in Fairfield, and build a commune for all you dreamers.
You pay for all the health care, education, housing, food stamps. Make sure you have enough parking for all of those unregistered, uninsured, vehicles that your dreamers drive.
Oh don’t forget to remind them… You have lived here all of your life. Gone to school here in the United States but you are not expected to speak, write, or understand the English language because we Americans would never want to take your culture away.
