Amber Alert: 7-year-old Girl Kidnapped in Front of Antioch Home

by ECT

AntiochAmberAlert

An AMBER Alert has been issued for Natalie Calvo, a 7-year-old Antioch girl who was abducted from in front of her home on Hummingbird Drive Friday evening around 6:45 pm.

Calvo was last seen wearing a pink scarf and jacket, gray leggings and brown boots. She is 3 ft. tall and weighs about 54 lbs with black hair and brown eyes.

The mother was with her daughter and upon returning home from a local store (Walmart)  a male approached the mother and daughter and forcibly puts her into the vehicle. They headed south towards James Donlon.

According to the police, there may have been two subjects involved with one person staying in the car at the type of the abduction. A weapon was used after the mother attempted to stop the man, but the male produced a rifle and the mom stopped while the subject forced the child into the car and fled the scene. The family has no idea who the man was.

Police were two-hours into the investigation and were still in the process of gathering information as they released the photo and descriptions while working on issuing an AMBER Alert.

Last night in Antioch, another mother reported a similar instance of being approached by a male matching the description of the male tonight, but was unsuccessful. The two families are not linked, however, the suspected vehicles are similar.

“We want anyone who may have seen Natalie, her mother, the suspicious person to call Antioch Police. Time is off the essence,” said Antioch PD.

The suspect is an Asian male, estimated to be about 40-50 years old. He was last seen driving a 1990s gold Toyota Camry.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Antioch police immediately at (925) 778-2441.

Update 11:00pm: vehicle model has changed from a Honda to a Toyota Camry.

Adrian Jan 3, 2014 - 11:41 pm

I wish the sign in front of the house didn’t have the girls name on it. That only aids a strangers attempt to get close to them.

Jeremy Jan 4, 2014 - 10:52 am

The sign in front of the house says “Nutcracker,” not “Natalie.”

Jeremy Jan 4, 2014 - 11:00 am

I missed the last picture.

tammy Jan 4, 2014 - 6:44 pm

It actually does say her name written in black under Nutcracker.

Where is hummingbird drive in Antioch?

Spencer Jan 4, 2014 - 11:25 am

Since she was found safe, is it possible to go back and edit the typos out of the article? “Time is *of* the essence”, “at the *time* of the abduction”, blending past tense and present tense in the same sentence, etc.

Sandra Jan 4, 2014 - 7:45 pm

I am a fan of using grammar correctly, as well..but are you kidding with your post?
Good grief…get a hobby.

Anita Wolbert Jan 4, 2014 - 8:14 pm

WHAT????????????? You are an idiot. A little girl is missing and you make a comment about past and present tense WHO CARES??? about the typos. We do not need an English lesson. Focus man on this little girl instead of some stupid typo. You must be one lonely human being with nothing better to do that look at people’s comments and find their mistakes. SAD!!!!!!!!!!

Spencer Jan 5, 2014 - 1:20 am

Relax…it is somewhat important to follow some standard in journalism. I am releived that she was found safe and is no longer missing. Of much lesser importance is making sure the article reads well, and I think the author may just want to proofread things a bit to ensure a clear conveyance of the news.

perrme Jan 5, 2014 - 4:58 am

You spelled relieved wrong…hmmm – karma.

Anita Jan 5, 2014 - 10:45 am

HA,,HA, HE, HE, SO, HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE CORRECTED??????

Terry Rheuark Jan 5, 2014 - 10:25 pm

Really? You want to be petty over typos when a child has been kidnapped? You have issues…

snopesitfirst Jan 4, 2014 - 11:28 am

Why would you not update this article to include the fact that THEY FOUND THIS LITTLE GIRL?

EastCountyToday Jan 4, 2014 - 11:50 am

@Snopes… thanks for the suggestion. Have now updated to include she has been found with link to article.

Christina Jan 4, 2014 - 12:28 pm

We just had a winter storm and there is NO SNOW on the ground and with negative temperature why is NO ONE wearing jackets??? Is this fake???

Christina Jan 4, 2014 - 12:30 pm

Never mind I thought this was Antioch IL not Cali. Sorry

Joely Jan 4, 2014 - 6:57 pm

Yeah. Took me a minute to figure that out, too. lol. Glad she is okay though.

Will Jan 5, 2014 - 11:37 pm

I was wondering where is the snow?

Gerri Jan 4, 2014 - 2:57 pm

Thank god that she was foun
d safe today

Greg Jan 4, 2014 - 3:43 pm

Bless her heart it brings back memories of when I was kidnapped and forced in car by a stranger when I was 8. I hate hearing things like this and god be with this young lady

Courtney Jan 4, 2014 - 4:33 pm

OMG I hope and pray for the safe return of this beautiful little girl

Esther Jan 4, 2014 - 4:47 pm

Hmmmm…… Concidering that it’s snowing non stop over here, I don’t think this was from yesterday.

jason Jan 4, 2014 - 6:23 pm

Wonder if police looked at wal mart servalance videos to see if he was stalking them there.

Joely Jan 4, 2014 - 6:56 pm

LOLOLOL. It’s Antioch, California! hahahaha. I was pissed off for a minute there! I thought this was some fabricated story that they completely left a huge detail out of.

Brenda Calderon Jan 4, 2014 - 8:37 pm

They should state the “STATE” cause I’m in Antioch tn n someone said antioch IL n I know it’s one in California smh

Ana Jan 4, 2014 - 8:59 pm

There is no snow and no one wearing jackets bc it’s not in IL but its in Cali !!!

Clc Jan 4, 2014 - 9:50 pm

They did leave a huge detail out…the STATE that it happened in…although Illinoisans should realize that Antioch, IL is in Lake county, not East county, as is Antioch, CA apparently. That’s the problem with “instant news”…little details like WHERE get assumed. Sounds like they found the girl, so all is good anyway.

SarongGoddess Jan 4, 2014 - 11:57 pm

I “feel” there’s more to this story than we’re getting!!!

Pat Jan 5, 2014 - 5:44 am

It would be nice if they posted the state. We also have an Antioch, Illinois that has a Wal-Mart. Not that we wouldn’t pass it along but at least we would know it’s not our Antioch.

Brady Jan 5, 2014 - 9:12 am

I pray to god she is found. I hope the cops find her and kill the kidnapper

Sissy Barber-Spain Jan 5, 2014 - 10:32 am

There is also an Antioch in TN! So confusing….

Audra Jan 5, 2014 - 10:37 am

She’s been found & this was in California, where it was posted on the flier in the original article.

Daisy Jan 5, 2014 - 11:14 am

I see she was found, thank The Lord! I can’t help but wonder if they got her stars wrong though…only 3 ft tall at 7 yrs old? That’s 36 inches…

a Jan 5, 2014 - 5:03 pm

I thought the same thing. 3ft tall is the size of an average 2.5 year old girl. There is no way the girl in the picture was only 3ft tall and over 50lbs. She’s probably more like 4ft tall.

M. Lucchesi Jan 6, 2014 - 10:14 am

I too, noticed ALL the mistakes in the grammar. My thoughts quickly turned to … is this report true?

Adagrant Jan 6, 2014 - 4:21 pm

I love in South Carolina and we have already heard about this terrible tragedy here. So may the blessings of my beloved savior be with this beautiful, child. We are adding her name to our prayer list. May god keep, her safe and bring down his wrath on those evil people who did this.

phyllis Jan 7, 2014 - 1:17 am

Oh lord help this child and keep her safe from any harm, wrap the angels around her and hold her tight and fly her home to her family.
