• Will insulting a police officer become a crime in Kentucky? The Senate approved it
  LEXINGTON, Ky. —After one of the most emotional and confrontational debates in Kentucky’s General Assembly this year, the state Senate Thursday night approved a bill that would make insulting a police officer a crime. The bill, which the Senate approved on a 22-11 vote after about an hour’s debate, would enhance punishment for crimes related to rioting, including making it a crime to insult or taunt a police officer if the comment provokes a violent response.
• Danville officer who shot man last week, fatally shot man while on duty in 2018
  DANVILLE, Calif. (KGO) — ABC7 has learned that a Danville police officer who shot a man this week, also shot and killed a man while on duty in 2018. Police identified the officer Saturday evening.
• Fresno police officer accused of being affiliated with ‘Proud Boys’
  FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — A Fresno police officer is accused of being affiliated with the “Proud Boys.” The allegations came to light after a protest at Fresno’s Tower Theatre Sunday.
• LAPD fatal shootings are down, but Police Commission finds flaws in many incidents
  The Los Angeles Police Commission has faulted officers for firing unnecessary shots, failing to maintain effective communication with one another and failing to wait for reinforcements, among other transgressions, a Times analysis of fatal shootings since 2018 shows.
• Average US price of gas up 25 cents a gallon to $2.89
  The highest average price in the nation is $3.86 a gallon in the San Francisco Bay Area. The lowest average is $2.48 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
• 2nd fire in a week hits Oakland homeless encampment
  OAKLAND — A fire erupted Sunday morning at an East Oakland homeless camp that had been the site of a larger blaze earlier in the week, officials said. The fire, which extended more than 50 feet, destroyed a few structures, including one that was apparently being rebuilt after the other fire at the camp Tuesday morning, officials said.
• LA opens its 1st tiny home village to combat homelessness
  Units cost $7,500 each, including labor and materials, and were shipped as ready-to-assemble stacks of panels from builder Pallet Shelter in Everett, Washington. The total cost of the project was about $5 million, according to Kerkorian’s office, with the majority spent on re-routing water, power, and sewer lines to the site. Hope of the Valley gets a $55 per person daily reimbursement from the city to cover three meals and social services for residents.
• San Bernardino police find 150 stolen catalytic converters, arrest 3 believed to be part of ‘large-scale catalytic theft ring’
  Driver who fled a police traffic stop led San Bernardino officers to the location of 150 stolen catalytic converters, resulting in the arrest of three men believed to be part of a “large-scale catalytic theft ring,” police said Saturday.
• PD: Woman arrested, accused of impersonating officer during robbery in Folsom
  FOLSOM, Calif. — A woman was arrested Sunday after police say she impersonated an officer while robbing a convenience store.
• LAUSD families rally for better school reopening plans
  Additionally, parents dissatisfied with the proposed hybrid models said they will continue to push for five days of in-person instruction at the secondary schools for fall semester. Under the proposed model for this semester, middle and high school students would be on campus two to three days a week and remain in distance learning the rest of the time. Parents have also complained that middle and high school students won’t receive in-person instruction in their core academic courses the days they’re on campus.

  With San Francisco public schools having agreed to a gradual and modest reopening plan, a parent-led movement to get kids back in the classrooms stepped up the pressure Saturday, calling for five full days of in-person education.
