• Judge mulls requiring PG&E to turn off power more frequently
  SAN RAMON, Calif. (AP) — A federal judge overseeing Pacific Gas & Electric’s criminal probation said Tuesday that he is considering requiring the utility to be more aggressive about turning off its electricity lines near tall trees, a plan that could double the number of power outages in six Northern California counties over the next decade.
• Proposed California Law That Would Stiffen Penalties For Drug Dealers Stalls In Committee
  SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A bill aimed at cracking down on deadly fentanyl overdoses hit a major roadblock Tuesday, leaving a lot of parents furious. The bill which is known as “Alexandra’s Law” stalled in committee today. It would have charged those who knowingly sell deadly pills with murder.
• Postal clerk sentenced for stealing money orders from customers
  SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A U.S. Postal Service employee who stole money orders from nearly two dozen post office customers in San Diego was sentenced Tuesday to time served in custody and ordered to pay more than $20,000 in restitution.
• San Diego Convention Center to house unaccompanied migrant children
  SAN DIEGO, Calif. (KRON) – California leaders say they are prepared to provide a helping hand to the Biden administration as it works to get thousands of unaccompanied children out of Border Patrol Detention Centers and into Health and Human Services facilities.
• Bill to end ‘spousal rape’ distinction in sentencing
  California would end what lawmakers called an archaic distinction between spousal rape and other forms of sexual assault under identical bills backed by proponents on Monday. While there is no difference in the maximum penalties, those convicted of spousal rape currently can be eligible for probation instead of prison or jail.
• $900K raised for woman who fought off attacker; plans to donate funds to Asian American community
  SAN FRANCISCO – Over $900,000 has been raised for a 75-year-old Asian woman who was the victim of a vicious and unprovoked attack in San Francisco last week.
• Bill to Require State and Local Government Open Meetings to Include Call-In or Online Option
  Assembly Members Alex Lee (D-San Jose), and Cristina Garcia (D-Bell Gardens) introduced their Assembly Bill 339 to ensure open meetings of state and local governments. The bill would amend Sections 9027, 54953, 54954.2, 54954.3, 11122.5, 11123, 11125.7 and add Sections 9027.1 and 9028.1 to the Government Code.
• Assemblymember Alex Lee Introduces Legislation to Deter Ellis Act Evictions by Property Speculators
  SACRAMENTO, CA – Assemblymember Alex Lee (D-San Jose) has introduced AB 854 to reform the Ellis Act and end the speculator eviction loophole by requiring a 5-year holding period before the Ellis Act can be invoked to evict tenants.
