We will call on anyone, in anyway we choose, if their actions are taking Antioch down. We have that right thanks to the First Amendment. If someone doesn’t like it? Tough!
I doubt that anyone wants our city ruined by incompetent people and three of those are now part of the CITY COUNCIL! I don’t care what race they are. but they must be removed.
We have the right to point out and blast those city “leaders” (elected or not) for barging int our town and trying to dismantle what we have been working so hard and long to make it a livable city. There is plenty of evidence how they have demolished cities like Oakland, which used to be free of crime.
Yup, those dominant culture types all over downtown…homeless meth heads and criminals. Send them to Danville.
Just reread some of the article in Thursday’s paper, “Black leaders, others speak out against blog” by Judith Prieve. Saw the statement by Demnius Johnson III — something about “that the community is saying the don’t want anymore.” Don’t want what, Demmie? Which community? We were doing just fine for decades and decades. We were growing in a positive direction. Criminals did not find this city attractive until the Oakland crowd started moving in and crime went off-the-charts! I hear many people who were misinformed about the candidates and their goals are now sorry they voted for them and want them removed. The bottom line is that one has to research carefully about the intent of whoever is running for a political office because elections have consequences, as we can see. Now, why did these people pick Antioch, of all cities, to harm so badly? What have we ever done to them? Why are they even here?
I am totally DELIGHTED that EastCountyToday exists and gives us the chance to put out what we REALLY think! If you want to see your input censored, then use YouTube or Facebook! I don’t like any censorship of any kind. People are allowed to think and post what they want using any terminology they wish. These protesters named in the paper come up with the word “truth” a lot. Just whose “truth” is that? Those who managed to make the move from west county to east county, should have done their homework before they descended on us and are trying to change what’s here. Maybe we should move to their former area and change it to what it USED to be before they ruined it. They sure ruined some fine cities (Oakland, Richmond, Berkeley, etc.) and now they’re after ours. Well, we won’t have it. I am thankful to Burkholder created this site and thankful he doesn’t remove the postings even if some people don’t like them. Those who are objecting to what we put out here, should take a careful look at the content. There are thousands of people here who do not post but have the same mindset as those who do. I never post anything anonymously.
There is a point where comments go too far… we all know what those look like and there is no debate on if they should be approved or not. Those are no longer approved. Exchanging ideas, be my guest.
Please don’t let this site become another YouTube or Facebook where people’s postings are routinely censored because they are not PC. Looking at the pioneers of the computing system, the intent was to free people to express themselves freely even if they use language which some might object to and they could do it anonymously or not. What’s happened? Now, suddenly, posters are told to watch their language because some yoke finds it “offensive” and wants to punish the poster in some ways. That’s not acceptable.
There is a way to have a discussion without having to cross a line.
When one tells the truth in certain terms, one is not crossing the line. As one of the “leaders” said … “call a spade, a spade.” People do this without going online. I’ve heard these problems discussed in many places out loud and have been confronted by those who don’t like it. They backed off many times when the originator stood up and they saw his 6’6″ height and 300 lbs. The First Amendment protects “unpopular” speech.
