Vacaville Police Warn Public of Renter Fraud After Incident Involving Bay Point Man

by ECT

The Vacaville Police Department would like to inform the community of a recent renter’s fraud that occurred in Vacaville.

On October 26, 2015, 2 subjects paid a locksmith to force entry into a residence in the 100 block of Chelsea Court and had them change the locks. The subjects had a fraudulent rental agreement stating they were the new leasees of the property. This address is currently bank owned and had been listed for sale.

On October 28 the Realtor located an online ad listing this property as a rental. The actual owner of the property contacted the number in the online ad and stated they wanted to rent the property. They agreed to meet with the suspects. Officers and detectives were waiting for the suspects when they arrived to meet with the victim.

Police arrested Rasheed Adkins, 37 of Bay Point (left), and Carl Jefferson, 29 of Richmond (right), for attempted grand theft, burglary, and identity theft.

Jefferson was on felony probation and was also charged with probation violation. The suspects were booked into Solano County Jail. If you think you’re being the victim of this type of a scam please contact the Vacaville Police Department to assist you.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Aaron Potter at (707) 469-4827.
