Update: Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Pittsburg, Driver Arrested

On Wednesday morning around 5:50 AM Pittsburg Police Officers were called to a Hit and Run Auto V. Pedestrian Fatal Traffic Collision on southbound Railroad Avenue near Marks Boulevard.

When Officers arrived on scene, they located a 40 year-old female, Pittsburg residence Alana Willis, suffering from major injuries.  Lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful and she succumbed to her injuries at the scene.   Officers found the driver of the vehicle had fled the scene in the suspect vehicle.

During the investigation, Detectives were able to locate the involved vehicle and detain the driver, who later cooperated with the investigation.  The driver of the vehicle, 29 year-old Angelia Spikes, was later booked for felony Hit and Run and transported to the Contra Costa County Sherriff’s Office Martinez Detention Facility.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation and additional information is not available at this time.

The Pittsburg Police Department Fatal Accident Response Team is investigating this incident. A portion of southbound Railroad Avenue at Marks Boulevard was closed for several hours, but is now open to traffic.

On Wednesday morning around 5:50 AM Pittsburg Police Officers were called to an Auto versus Pedestrian traffic collision on southbound Railroad Avenue near Marks Avenue.

When Officers arrived on scene, they located the pedestrian in the roadway suffering from fatal injuries.  The driver of the vehicle was later contacted and is cooperating with the investigation.

“The cause of the collision is still under investigation and additional information is not available at this time,” said Captain Albanese

The Pittsburg Police Department Fatal Accident Response Team is on scene and investigating this incident. Southbound Railroad Avenue is currently closed from Marks Avenue.  The roadway is expected to be closed for several hours and drivers are asked to use alternative routes.
