Two Antioch Women Robbed at Two Separate Locations 5 Minutes Apart

by ECT

The Antioch Police Department announced on Sunday that on April 12, they had two robberies involving firearms within minutes of one another.

The incidents occurred at 10:30 pm and 10:35 and it’s unclear if they were related.

On 4/12/16 at 10:35 pm, the victim was sitting in front of the apartments at 1000 Claudia Ct. when she was approached by two male adults.  One of the males pointed a hand gun at her demanding her property. The victim’s purse was ripped from her grip by the responsibles.

They walked away with her property and told the victim she will be shot if she did not run away. The victim complied with the demands and ran home where she contacted police.

On 4/12/16 at 10:30 pm, a home owner arrived home from work and as she exited her vehicle on Aster Dr., she was approached by a female adult.  As her attention was drawn toward the female, an adult male approached her from the opposite direction and pointed a handgun at her face.

The female pushed the victim to the ground, kicked her in the back, and took her purse, cell phone and car keys.  The male pulled the victim away from the vehicle by the hair and the responsibles got into the victim’s vehicle.

The responsibles stole the victim’s vehicle but abandoned it a short distance away due to the vehicle tires locking from the emergency brake which was still applied.  The responsibles fled on foot toward W 10th St.  We attempted to ping the victim’s cell phone but the phone had been powered off.

No further information was released on either robbery.

Why are we hearing about this 5 days later? Antioch Police are failing the community with their lack of transparency and communication skills.

Jeffrey Hall-Cottrell Apr 18, 2016 - 8:27 am

That’s what you are upset about? That you are just now finding out about this? Not, that there are assholes out there robbing people, but that you didn’t get a handwritten detailed report within two hours of the incident??????

Jim Simmons Apr 18, 2016 - 8:54 am

Yes I am concerned about the assholes robbing people but it should have been put out by ECT within a few hours of it happening and the least 24 hours at the latest. Not 5 DAYS later. This is a public safety issue if people are going around robbing women. In the newest post today, it says 4 people were robbed at gun point and a few minutes earlier another robbery ni a park. Antioch’s Police Chief should be more transparent with the public instead of saying CRIME IS DOWN!

Actually I did see something about this on Friday or Saturday on ECT on facebook. I’m not sure what your point is?

Speaking for myself, I would prefer to know what is happening and where so I can avoid those areas or prepare myself. And example would be tjhe 64 assaults and robberies in March, it would be nice to know that 13 happened in parks. That way I am not walking pets or exposing grandkids to potential “hot spots”.

We don’t live in Antioch, but I agree with Jeffrey Hall-Cottrell. Be thankful you heard about it at all, and quit complaining. People will complain about anything. If you’re that concerned about safety, move out of Antioch. It never has and never will be a nice or safe town. You get what you pay for.

nope. you got this one wrong. i was born in Antioch in the 50s. it was a great little town. it was still ok in the 80s, when i was raising my kids. i don’t know where you got your info, but it’s wrong.

Melba Apr 19, 2016 - 7:17 pm

I was born and raised in Antioch and it was a very nice town. 60s – 70s and 80s. For some reason the riffraff started to coming in to Antioch from West County and other places.

Yep…the answer is simple – Blame it on your good ole neighbors. You know the ones who use to live next door or near by. The ones who looked like you and had similar income and family structures to yours – you know the ones….the ones that became so greedy at earning more and more equity that they decided to move out and rent there homes rather than sale. Then the bottom fell out and they left you stuck with those less fortunate than you to living right next door. Then when the different lifestyles and economic classes clash you want blame those without business savvy. If it were such a great utopia some of you smart native from the olden days should have figured out how to keep it that way. Yep…blame your own greedy relatives, community leaders, friends, fishing buddies and soccer moms.

Hey… no worries….many suburb off spring are now moving into Oakland and creating similar discomfort….the townies will give you Antioch back if your subbies let them have their towns back, Richmond, Oakland and San Francisco…oh but no, those well of want both the suburbs and the city…I guess you just happened to get left behind.

Nick I’m not sure how long you lived in Antioch but when I move back to Oakley Antioch area back in 1982 It was a wonderful little citie and very safe cities to live in so by your ignorant remark regarding Antioch was never safe and never will be safe place to live is stupid it didn’t start becoming an unsafe place to live until after the Lone Tree area was built sometime after 2002, it’s very sad to see and I’ll turn out the way it has and almost every day used to live in Antioch no longer lives in Antioch like myself I currently live in Brentwood.

Lauren Levels Apr 18, 2016 - 12:13 pm

Nick, you are a complete moron and have no clue! Antioch used to be very safe and nice. “You get what you pay for” How about people who have lived in Antioch for over 30 years? They don’t deserve this crazy amount of crime. Please slap yourself for being so ignorant and dumb. Even people who live here now, there is a lot of good people, we are all working together to stop the crime rate from rising!

Michelle Apr 18, 2016 - 1:50 pm

It doesn’t matter where you live crime is happening everywhere. I have lived in Brentwood Oakley & recently bought a house in Antioch/Brentwood boarder. I have the best nieghbors I have ever had & taxes are much cheaper. I feel sorry for the victims & hope they find people responsible for these crimes soon & get them off the streets!

I have lived here 50 years and it was once a lovely town. It is now a sewer. My family has worked their butts off, donated time and money to try to get this place back on its feet to no avail. As long as we have civic leaders like we keep electing and city management that doesn’t care because they have no investment in the city it will never get better. Meanwhile we keep trying.

No one wants to say it, but when they they started to bus kids from Richmond for school then family’s from Richmond in low housing assistance started moving to Antioch and everyting went downhill from there.

Jeffrey Hall-Cottrell Apr 19, 2016 - 9:25 am

That’s because the bussing never happened. Right it was all of the low income people from Richmond… Is your sheet pressed and ready for the meeting?

Old Pittsburg/Antioch Hwy Border Apr 19, 2016 - 12:45 pm

JHC is correct. No busing. But, the fact is HUD created an easy way for families to move to Antioch from the heavily impacted HUD housing areas from Oakland to Richmond. No doubt some of these families traveled by bus to BART to visit their relatives left behind.

Joanne Wilson Apr 19, 2016 - 2:48 pm

Stop HUD programs in Antioch god damn it! Just so they can make extra money, and where does this money go? Not to help our city. We are tired of these low income people and the crime they brought over. STOP SECTION 8 VOUCHERS IN ANTIOCH!!!! WE ARE DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Send them back to their families in Richmond and Oakland. Most have no morals and values, litter our streets, commit violent crimes. Enough is Enough city counsel and crooked Harper! Can’t wait until you all disappear along with the scum you brought to our town!

Jeffrey Hall-Cottrell Apr 19, 2016 - 3:11 pm

I know, huh. We ahould build a fence around Antioch and keep them (wink wink) dirty, scummy, no morals RICHMOND and OAKLAND “people”. And we will get Section 8 to pay for it and we will stop people who were not born and raised in Antioch from moving here. Thsre will have to be a clause in there of course. After all, if someone from Antioch is on section 8, they will be deported to Richmond or Oakland. We will of course use public busses to deport. If it was good enough for “them” to come to our schools and cause problems. They can take it back to their part of America. Not our part of America. Section 8 will be canceled in Antioch as will any form of “welfare”. Thank gawd I won’t have to see those “people” in line at my grocery store buying food with one of those welfare cards or those long lines because of one of those “people” is using WIC.

And then we can go back to the law abiding citizens of Antioch pre-Harper and his gangs. Because we never had crime before Mayor Harper and his “people” came to town.

( I wonder how many miss my sarcasm?)

Joanne Wilson Apr 19, 2016 - 3:43 pm

Oh no Mr Sarcasm feels bad for these people lol You damn politically correct moron! Everything I said is true, and truth is so sensitive to you huh?. Keep defending these low life people. You most likely don’t live near any of them or had the disadvantage of being neighbors with them. Go down Sycamore with all your belongings and see how long you last before being robbed by one of them at gun point. Yes Antioch crime was very very low, I have lived here for 25 years dumb ass. Now it’s most crime riddled city in Contra Costa County, and you fooling yourself cry baby if you think it’s not because of all the HUD, section 8, low income people that were brought here. You got them living in house once almost worth a million dollars, with pools, 5 bedrooms, which they most likely trash and destroy. While hard working people like myself and thousands of Antioch residents pick up after them, whether it’s trash or crime!! So take your BS and PC non sense somewhere else, don’t be so offended by the truth! hahaha dumb liberals are pathetic! Hope one day you live next to a section 8 home that is full of them and they make your life miserable if you’re not one of them yourself!

Ctfu….really though!

David Apr 19, 2016 - 10:06 pm

Joanne, you can’t win with someone like this clown. He refuses to see the truth, because the truth hurts. The fact of the matter is…it’s not racist to call it like it is. 80% of the crime in Antioch is being committed by one group of people. Period. End of story. The sky is blue. Is that offensive to everyone in the world who doesn’t like blue? No, because it’s just how it is. Antioch is a vile, filthy shithole that has been ruined by section 8 and the welfare system . It’s riddled with people who refuse to better themselves and break the cycle . Look at the teenagers at Walmart ? Half of their ass cracks are hanging out while they literally belt their pants around their knees, and walk as slow as they can across the road just to piss people off? Every one of them needs an ass whooping

A Real True Thought Apr 25, 2016 - 8:06 am

Amazing, one utilizes the initials CTFU to articulate their profound thought. This must be so familiar to you, a spelling correction: Shut starts with the letter S, not the letter C.

Today is a new day, change your modus operandi and start being part of the solution and NOT THE PROBLEM.

Section8vocher Apr 24, 2016 - 10:05 pm

How can you blame housing situations.on crime . Yes we aceppted to.many housing vouchers from the bay . IT IS WHAT IT IS …So.we learn from the mistakes and fix it one voucher abuser at a time… I feel that each city should look at how section 8 is a sucess in Pittsburg CA. They need to set new guidelines and penalties for familys that are abusing
the syste
.Someway keep.records on program households That Police are aware of that household is a voucher holder and reported to housing when police contact with that household and whoever lives there
They break the rules they lose there right to be helped . Not all low income section 8 housing recipients are involved in crime . Discrimination against the ones not as fortunate As you is not only inhumane but morally wrong. Just my hope for.some change.
