Three people were arrested after two Alameda County sheriff’s deputies were beaten trying to break up a fight between two men in an apartment complex in the 2400 block of Grove Way at around 11:00 pm Saturday.

One deputy had the orbital bone in one of his eyes broken and suffered severe facial injuries which will require facial reconstructive surgery—he is in stable condition in the hospital. A second deputy was also injured with injuries to his face and was treated, but not hospitalized.

The deputies arrived and were pointed in the direction of the fight by Kelly Carter, 26, who pointed them towards Keith Carter, 21, and Willie Tinoifili, 28.

According to the Sheriffs office, Keith Carter is well trained in martial arts and smashed one of the deputies in the face and tried to strangle another deputy. As carter wrestled with the second deputy, trying to gouge his eyes out, the first deputy stumbled to his feet to help his partner and that is when Tinoifili and Kelly Carter jumped in. The deputy was knocked unconscious.

The first deputy shocked Keith Carter with an electric stun gun, subduing him, as backup officers swarmed to the scene, Kelly said.

Keith Carter and Tinoifili were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder of a police officer and felony assault, and Kelly Carter was booked on suspicion of felony assault.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Alameda County Sheriff’s Department and their families this morning upon hearing of the news last night. These types of incidents make us sick to our stomachs and are disgusted that bail was set at just $105,000.

We wish the deputies a speedy recovery and salute them for their service.

Only 105000 for attempted murder on an officer, people with possible gang affiliation get higher bail amount. My goodness, prayers to the officers and their families
