On the afternoon of April 20, the Tracy Police Department, with our partners from both the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Department and the California Highway Patrol, conducted an enforcement operation to curb the enthusiasm of the reckless motorcycle riders in town, about whom many in the community have complained.

Police made three arrests for reckless driving and evading the police. As well, the motorcycles of the offenders were impounded for 30-days. With the many fees associated with having a vehicle impounded, the violators can expect to pay more than $2,000 to claim their motorcycles (next month).

The law allows for the seizure of a vehicle that has been operated recklessly or used to evade the police. This is sometimes accomplished by way of warrants. Those warrants command the officer to seize the motorcycle, even if it is in your garage. We would prefer to stay out of your house and not impound the motorcycles.

The Carnegie off-road park is only a few miles away- they will welcome you.

Expect more operations like this one
