Beginning at 11:00 am Saturday there will be a blood drive event at Prewett Family Park at the Antioch Water Park honoring Brandon Burnett, the donor who helped save Matthew Ouimet and four other lives through organ donation.

The event date was chosen for Saturday because it was between Brandon and Matthews Birthday.  Brandon would have been 23 on February 1. The Ouimets are hoping to set a one-day record for the American Red Cross Northern California Service Region. The record is 191, but they hope to hit the 200 mark.

As of Friday night, 177 were registered for the event and they are hoping they can all show up with the rain and flu season as obstacles. They are also asking folks who may be sick to stay home.

According to Kristi Wisecarver Ouimet, the schedule was pretty booked up thru 12:45 but lots of open times after that. She says the weather is not stopping them from the attempt at the one day record.

She says there will be 23 Red Cross Employees on site and there is a special t-shirts,  pizza vouchers and other goodies for all the successful donors.

Walk-ins are accepted or you can sign up at www.redcrossblood.org  with a Sponsor Code: matthewouimet
