Three Arrested for Robbery Spree in Antioch and Brentwood

by ECT

The Antioch Police Department announced the arrest of three men in connection with a series of robberies that occurred within the city limits of Antioch and Brentwood between March 11-20.

On March 11 at approximately 9:15 pm, two males armed with handguns entered the Subway sandwich shop at the Streets of Brentwood and pointed guns at the employees and robbed the store of money from the cash register.

Shortly after the robbery in Brentwood, Antioch Police were dispatched to a robbery that had just occurred at the Little Caesars Pizza at 4819 Lone Tree Way. Just as the robbery in Brentwood, two males armed with handguns entered the business and pointed guns at the employees and robbed the business of money from the cash register.

The two agencies shared information and determined that it was most likely the same people who committed both robberies.

On March 12 Brentwood PD was able to obtain video of the two responsible of these robberies, getting out of a vehicle at the Streets of Brentwood just prior to committing the first robbery. They were able to capture a license plate. That vehicle was determined to be registered to an address in Antioch. From there, Detectives from Antioch and Brentwood police departments began the laborious task of working to identify those responsible for these crimes.

On March 19 at 9:03 pm, a lone gunman entered the Subway sandwich shop at 3020 Delta Fair Blvd. in Antioch and pointed a gun at the employees and robbed the store of money from the register. He fled prior to police being called and was not apprehended at the time. The gunman matched the description of one of the responsibles from the previous robberies.

Detectives had developed information on a 15 year old male from Antioch as a possible suspect and subsequently arrested him on Auto Center Drive near Mahogany Way on the afternoon of March 21. The juvenile was booked into Juvenile Hall for Robbery and Conspiracy for the Brentwood and Antioch robberies on March 11. The juvenile was found to be in possession of a replica firearm at the time of his arrest.

On March 23, at 10:05 pm Antioch Police responded to yet another robbery. This one occurred at the Pizza Hut on Contra Loma Blvd. Just as in the Subway robbery on Delta Fair Blvd., the lone gunman entered the Pizza Hut and pointed the gun at an employee and robbed the business of money from the register. He fled prior to police being called and was not apprehended at the time. Again, the gunman matched the description of one of the responsibles from the previous robberies.

By March 24, Antioch and Brentwood Detectives working together had identified 20 year old Jonathan Sokoya of Stockton as the outstanding suspect that had robbed the Subway at the Streets of Brentwood and the Little Caesars in Antioch on March 11 as well as committing the additional two robberies in Antioch on March 19 and March 23.

On March 24, armed with an arrest warrant, Antioch Police Detectives were able to apprehend Sokoya in Stockton without incident as he was being picked up in a car near his residence. Sokoya was in possession of a replica firearm at the time of his arrest as well. Also in the car was 21 year old Nicholas McBride of Antioch.

McBride was determined to be the driver during some of these robberies and was taken into custody as well. Following the arrests, Antioch Detectives served a search warrant on Sokoya’s residence on Ian Ct. in Stockton where additional evidence of the robberies was recovered. Both were booked on conspiracy, accessory and robbery charges.

These cases have been presented to the Office of the District Attorney. The Office of the District Attorney is in the process of filing a myriad of charges including Robbery, Conspiracy and Accessory accordingly. Detectives are still reviewing the actions of this crew to determine if there are any other crimes that they are associated with.

No further information will be released at this time.

Anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to call Detective Colley with the Antioch Police Department at (925)779-6922.

NO Way! Not in good ‘ol Antioch. There are several things wrong with this article.

1) they are black therefore they have to 100000% innocent. We don’t do this kind of stuff to black people in today’s society. Only logical reason behind the robbery is the Subway robbed itself and then blamed it on these two upstanding citizens.

2) They can’t be affiliated with Antioch, mahogany way, and other rich neighborhoods of Antioch. Logical reasoning is they may be from the ghetto of Orinda.

3) Antioch had a Mayor that has “zero tolerance” for crime so crime does not exist in Antioch. It’s so safe we had our scanners encrypted because there’s no radio traffic.

Geez.

These thugs learn from their parents, who learned from their parents, and list goes on. They will never learn. Keep giving them free housing, welfare, free cell phones, free ebt cards to use as any store they please. Yet they still aren’t satisfied, they want everything the people who pay the taxes to give them the free stuff have too. Antioch leaders plus the NAACP are the crooks who help these crooks who they act are innocent in the end and we’re all being racist by judging of them!

Don’t be stupid i knew jonathan and his mum was a strict parent she passed away a while back so there was no one to monitor him rather blame your american society for the decay and everything wrong with it dont blame it on his parents america did this to him.

With that logic, I think we should blame the dinosaurs because the dinosaurs past away and did bad things. That’s why these poor thug criminals bastards are they way they are.

Dumbest shit I ever heard. My dad died when I was a teen, what did I do? made better for my life and got a job and now I own my own home, car, and everything else. Stop blaming it on others. This kid was bred to be a thug!

RJB – Every damn news article that involves Antioch you are always in the comments. Seriously stop wasting your time because the residents of Antioch know how bad it has become. But also remember that every city has its bad side. I just had to comment because I’m tired of seeing your comments. Damn ….

R. J. b. Mar 30, 2016 - 10:06 pm

Well listen Bob,

I’m glad I can have such a tremendous impact on your life that even after being so “tired” of my comments, you actually took time and energy out of your day to respond.

LMAO.

Agreed

R.J.b is a smart person and concerned about his town. Yeah, he could ignore all the messed up stuff that goes on in Antioch like the rest of you cowards. But he chooses to voice his opinion. But you liberals hate the 1st amendment, well unless it benefits you, otherwise people should just shut up right? morons! Keep bringing more attention to the issues r.j,b.. Hopefully the city wakes up and cares more about their communities!

R. j. B. Apr 1, 2016 - 10:09 am

Thank you. It’s refreshing to know there are people out there who still believe in our right to voice our opinion and concerns.

I hope we never forget that change starts with those who speak up.

I know one of these families, and I can say that the young man didn’t learn this at home, and that the assumptions being made are false. My heart breaks for the family.

R. J b Mar 30, 2016 - 10:14 pm

Aww

My heart breaks for criminals like child molesters and pedophiles too.

Double aww.

SMH Apr 1, 2016 - 6:53 am

My heart breaks for the employee who was trying to make a living and had a gun pointed at them. My heart breaks for the families of the victims. I have a family friend who was assaulted at another store at Streets of Brentwood . A young lady with a small child and family. These incidents traumatize the victim and their families. So pardon me if I don’t give a hoot about the criminals family.

Great Job, APD and BPD!

Now, I hope the DA’s Office applies the enhancement – CA PC 12022.53. Which in this case would be an additional 10 years, per incident, on top of the other charges.

The law is the law, no plea bargaining – just hammer them all!

City of Antioch, Mayor and Councilmembers, please take note: The men and women who protect us are doing an outstanding job – follow their lead. Now, you elected officials need to stand-up and protect the citizens of this city like the men and women in blue! Do your job!!! Place the City of Antioch on the map as a great place to live, rather than a Ghetto, Hyman of Crime, City of Section 8s and the list goes on.

If you can’t do your job, refuse to do your job or unable to do your job, we would love to accept your letter(s) of resignation. The elected officials there realize they are doomed here, so they are running for county supervisors. Don’t vote for any Antioch elected official for county supervisor, until Antioch is fixed.

APD be safe and wish all of you the best. BPD thank you for your supporting APD, be safe and best wishees.

We don’t live in Antioch (Oakley), other peoples comments don’t bother me, but I think if you’re sick of a town (we’ve all been there)… the wisest thing to do is move. It’s easier said than done sometimes, but it’s a wise thing to do. You’ll be happier in the long run.

America: Earth's Prison Capital Mar 31, 2016 - 7:08 pm

Americans: a bunch of whining, confused, dependent children always waiting on the will and whim of politicians, priests, and police officers to make moves for them. Hell, even police sirens sound like big babies. Think and act for yourself, America. Your law enforcement aren’t understaffed…they’re too busy running around trying to protect you all. #firstworldproblems

Section 8, liberals, and self entitled blame everyone else but me type of people …

… a bunch of whining, confused, dependent children always waiting on the will and whim of politicians For more handouts.

Not sure how R.J.B.’s comments show the concern he expresses for his town more so than proving he is just a sarcastic butt, but we all interpret things differently. Until his comments actually make a difference in this town, I am pretty sure we would rather him ignore what is going on in Antioch. You complain over the Internet and do nothing about the situation. Anyway, I agreed with Todd until he mentioned the NAACP. What an asinine comment. No wonder Antioch is in such bad shape. Whole town is full of idiots.

R. J. B Apr 5, 2016 - 11:12 am

And your comment adds value? What a judgmental piece of ****.

Ignore the crime issues in Antioch? Something tells me you’re part of the problem

Raven Apr 5, 2016 - 6:55 am

Now, CAR is onto something!
