Karina Cortesi and Tara Carr were two moms who had a knack for being creative and followed their dreams of being event planners to help bring fun to parties.
The Sweet Side is an event planning business that is specializing in candy buffets and color coordinating your party with decorations. Their goal is to bring jaw dropping visual appeals toa party with incredible sweetness.
After being stay at home moms, the two launched their business in December after being neighbors, becoming friends, and now business partners after planning several events for free and decided they wanted to fill a void.
“After a few events for free, it came up why don’t we do this for a living?” explained Cortesi. “We just started and did desert tables and are now expanding. We also try to use local business to help support each other. Our main goal is to do styling and decorating.”
According to Cortesi, they will use local bakery in Antioch, Brentwood or Oakley if they are providing the food and its a great way to ensure local business help one another.
Cortesi says they are crafty and enjoy speaking with clients about ideas for events such as:
- Baby showers
- Kids parties
- Baptism
- Wedding planning
- Theme parties
“We love the challenge of a new idea and challenge with new colors,” said Cortesi. “We love to be creative and come up with new ideas with our clients. For those that are creative themselves but do not have the means to buy materials, we have a do-it-yourself partner and can rent our items.”
Many times, clients are just looking for a centerpiece table which turns out to be the talk of the party which is a big help as sometimes planning a party can get overwhelming—they reduce the stress level.
“It’s such a satisfaction to know that all of your hard work and people are talking about the set-up. The table is the main attraction of the party in our experience. It’s the highlight of the party. It’s such a satisfaction,” said Cortesi.
Cortesi has lived in Brentwood since 2003 who volunteers with her church and her son’s school. She also loves living in Brentwood.
“I can go on and on about Brentwood. It’s such a warm town. Its very family oriented. Everything is so peaceful. People are so friendly. I like the small town feeling and know what is going on in town. The schools are great here,” said Cortesi
Introductory packages $75 – that is like a Do-it-yourself and renting jars, cake stands, table cloths.
Typical range is around $175 where they include their deluxe package.
“We want to bring sweetness and delight to your event and help everyone we can,” explained Cortesi. “We want to take that burden off people in planning a party which can be stressful and letting us take care of it. We really enjoy it.”
