APDSuspect1

A 15-year-old boy who is suspected of beating to death an 83-year-old Antioch man has been charged with murder and robbery in a Contra Cost County juvenile court according to Malaika Fraley of the Contra Costa Times. The teen was held in juvenile hall on robbery charges for months while the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Attorney awaited a full autopsy report.

Patrick Chang, 83, died June 11 at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek. He had been in critical condition since the May 18 incident in the parking lot of Orchard Hardware Supply in Antioch.

On May 23 a suspect was booked in to Juvenile Hall in Martinez on suspicion of felony assault and robbery after the Antioch Police Department released a photo and used social media to track down the suspect.

On May 24, Antioch Police Chief Allan Cantando thanked the community for their assistance

As a follow-up to my last post, I would like to let you know that yesterday afternoon Antioch Police detectives arrested a local teenager for the recent attack of an 83-year old man. The teen was booked into Juvenile Hall on charges of felony assault and robbery, and the case will soon be forwarded to the District Attorney’s office. I would like to thank everyone who shared this story on social media, talked about it to their friends and family, and made this arrest possible.

I am proud of the men and women of this department, proud of everyone in the community working to make Antioch a safer place to live, work, shop, and play, and lastly, proud to serve as your Chief of Police.

Sincerely,

Chief Allan Cantando

The teen returns to court for a pretrial conference on Oct. 31.

I can only hope that he is tried as an adult and his parents have to pay for his defense!! He needs to be put away for a very long time!

His family more that likely has no money so once again we the working public will have to pay for his defense. I hope that the prosecutor actually decides to pursue this to the fullest extent! How can any person think that it is ok to attack someone, let alone an 83 year old man, and shot him in the face! This is just not acceptable!

The parents will cry poor and YOU will pay for his defense!

Let’s hope justice is served. In this case that means an eye for an eye. This little mooncricket needs to rot in a cell until the day comes where they throw the switch on the little prick.
Thanks APD and all those that helped solve this case.

All of the comments about this kids parents are disturbing… Pray for them. Thats all people care about is money & how their city looks. We should be praying for ALL PARTIES INVOLVED. God sees all. He will prevail. Shame on you people speaking about taxpayers money.

how very sad for all involved. Why is it so easy for kids to obtain guns? The music the young people listen to encourages this type of behavior. He is a product.

I vote for the death penalty for this little bastard. Hey SonyaCalifornia are you related to this piece of turd? WHAT WE CARE ABOUT IS THE SAFETY OF OUR CITY

Some people just can’t handle the reality of what Antioch is faced with.
