Suspect in Livermore and Fresno Homicides, Now Connected to Sacramento Homicide

Jason Brown, who is wanted by both the Livermore and Fresno Police Departments is now wanted by the Sacramento Police Department in connection for a September murder.

The announcement came Tuesday night after Sacramento Police announced the arrest of 24-year-old John Bunch for the fatal shooting of 53-year-old Walter Gibson in September.

Brown is a suspect in the shooting death of a man in the CVS Pharmacy parking lot in Livermore on Friday (Oct 23). The victim who was killed is Jose A Mendoza, 32 of Turlock. The second victim who is in critical condition was Ulizes Benitez, 22 of Turlock.

Fresno Police announced Brown is suspected of killing a 27-year-old man inside a Fresno restaurant on September 12.  A suspect, later identified as Brown, was seen leaving the scene in a gray Dodge Charger.

The Sacramento Police Department has arrested 24-year-old John Bunch for murder; and is seeking help from the community in locating 18-year-old Jason Brown, also wanted for Murder.

In September of this year, Sacramento Police Homicide Detectives responded to a parking lot near the 3600 block of Truxel Road to investigate the fatal shooting of 53-year-old Walter Gibson. During the incident, Gibson suffered gunshot injuries to his upper body.  Detectives later determined that the shooting was drug related (see original news release below).

Bunch-and-brownDuring the course of the investigation, detectives identified Jason Brown and John Bunch as primary suspects in the case.   In conjunction with the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office, investigators obtained arrest warrants for both suspects for murder, with a special circumstance of robbery.

This morning, at approximately 10:00 a.m., suspect Bunch was located in Alameda County and arrested without incident for his role during the homicide.

Brown remains outstanding and is believed to reside in the bay area.

The Sacramento Police Department considers Brown to be armed and extremely dangerous. Investigators believe that he may be linked to two additional homicides that occurred this year in Alameda and Fresno County.

Police are encouraging the public to immediately notify law enforcement with any information regarding Brown’s whereabouts.
