Security Guard Rescues Woman After Vehicle Enters Antioch Marina Waters

by ECT

A security guard with Strategic Threat Management (STM) pulled a female from her vehicle after it entered the water Thursday night at the Antioch Marina.

The incident occurred just after 10:30 pm where security officer David Quintanilla was on patrol in the downtown area as part of the companies contract and spotted a vehicle driving recklessly just before it entered the water.

strategic-threat-managementQuintanilla acted quickly to call 9-1-1 for Antioch Police and Contra Costa County Fire to also respond as he headed towards the Marina.

Quintanilla talked to the woman as the vehicle began to head further down the boat ramp. He got her to unbuckle her seat belt and pulled her out of the vehicle through the window before it became fully submerged.

Antioch Police and Contra Costa County firefighters responded along with a rescue boat to search to see if there were any other victims. Divers entered the water and a tow truck was used to pull the vehicle back into the parking lot.

Once the vehicle was on land, firefighters confirmed no one else was in the vehicle.

The female was taken to a local hospital by AMR and police are currently investigating the incident, however, the female was arrested on a suspected DUI according to Antioch Police Chief Allan Cantando.

I swear it never ends in Antioch. Good for this security officer, most people would freeze in these situations waiting for police & fire to arrive.

What an idiot. The harbor master should ask her to pay the launch fee

Different Nick here… don’t drink and drive, and this won’t happen.

Fast response by the security guard. Luckily nobody was injured, and she can spend some time in county thinking about her problems

Is this the third time a vehicle mistook the ramp as a road? Perhaps the city needs to obstruct the path after the launch closes? Remember who your constituents are and where they are arriving from.

If they obstruct the ramp then mariners who return at night will be restricted from using the ramp. What you are seeing is Darwin’s theory in effect….you can’t fix stupid! This individual clearly should not have been driving
