Saturday: Brownstone Gardens Introduces Fitness Boot Camp

Fitness Boot Camp

In what is being labeled as a “Bridal Boot Camp”, Brownstone Gardens in Oakley is set to help brides and grooms get fit before they tie the knot with an open invitation to the community to also participate.

Workouts will be held on Saturdays from 8:00 to 9:00 am throughout the summer and into the fall. The series will be led by Mary and Brandon Collins, independent Beachbody Coaches.

According to Mary Collins, who is coordinating the series, they will be working out to home workout programs—P90X, P90X3, Les Mills Combat, Turbo Fire, 21 Day Fix, T25, Insanity, The Asylum.

“Our boot camp will be every Saturday from 8-9 throughout the summer/fall until the weather gets too bad to be outdoors,” says Mary Collins.” At the end of the workouts I will be available to chat with people about their goals.  There’s a reason why Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig have weekly meetings… it’s because it holds people accountable to their goals.  That’s kind of what I envision these boot camps being.  A giant accountability meeting.”

Collins says she is passionate about fitness since she got in shape in 2012 and lost 50 lbs using P90X. She also says she got her husband on board and he has lost 30 lbs. Now she wants to help others transform their life.

“Getting my health back is something that has literally changed my life and, as you can imagine, when you lose that much weight, you are kind of excited,” says Collins. “I started sharing my results with others and encouraging them and I found my passion.  To spread the love of health and fitness to everyone that I know and come into contact with and to be that hand to help someone else reach their goals.”

Although most brides and grooms get into shape specifically for their wedding day, Collins explained this program is not about a dress size or fitting into a dress, it’s about building self-confidence and having the ability to do the activities one loves to do. It’s also about empowerment.

“I feel like I have been given a huge gift by some people in my life who reached out to me and helped me get where I am today and because of them, I want to pay it forward to someone else,” says Collins. “I have been helping others now for about a year and a half, but my experience so far has been online as a motivational coach.  I really want to take this to another level and make myself available to people in person, have that personal interaction and get to know people.  Helping the community around me is a big desire of mine.”

The idea of a boot camp was discussed for the past year as the idea was to get fit outdoors and in the fresh air. Brownstone Gardens provides the scenery and atmosphere Collins was looking for. Due to its size, many within the community can participate.

What is needed to participate:

  • Yoga mat
  • towel
  • water bottle.

“I think working out in the outdoors is a very healthy experience.  Fresh air is awesome for our brains and insides.  And it doesn’t hurt when you’re surrounded by absolutely gorgeous grounds.”
