Register Today: Joey Graves Memorial Golf Tournament

by Administrator

There is still time to register for a fabulous event to be held on Monday Sept. 17 at the Discovery Bay Country Club.

The sixth annual Joey Graves Memorial Golf Tournament will be held Monday, Sept. 17 at the Discovery Bay Country Club. Proceeds from the event benefit programs supported by the nonprofit Some Gave All Foundation, including the Gold Star Parent Honor & Remembrance event, Wreaths Across America, Project Gold Star (license plate program) and the American Heroes Tribute Banners.

In speaking with Kevin Graves, he explained that this year the proceeds will go towards veteran suicide prevention as each day 18 veterans commit suicide. Graves cites the Veterans Administration as the source but the number is actually higher because it doesn’t account the active-duty personnel who take their own lives.

Over 2 million American men and women have VOLUNTEERED to served in Iraq and Afghanistan. Sadly, these veterans are two and half times more likely to commit suicide than most non-veteran Americans of the same age.

18 Veterans a day commit suicide. 18! That’s 20% of the 30,000 suicides a year in America.
