Pleasanton: Arrest Made For Sexual Battery of a 14-Year-Old Child

by ECT

On Thursday, May 28, 2015 at approximately 3 p.m., Detectives from the Pleasanton Police Department arrested Alexander Kurtz, a 22 year old resident of Castro Valley, for a sexual battery of a child under the age of 14.

On Tuesday May 26, 2015 the victim’s mother reported an incident of sexual battery to the Pleasanton Police Department. The incident occurred in December 2014 at the Building Kidz Preschool in Pleasanton where Kurtz was formerly employed as a teacher. It is suspected that Kurtz sexually battered a teenage girl, who was a former student of Busy Bees, which was the name of the school prior to Building Kidz taking over in September of 2014.

Based upon the investigation, we believe this to be an isolated incident and no other victims have come forward.

On Monday, June 1, 2015, Detectives presented the case to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office. The District Attorney filed one count of 288(b)(1) PC against Kurtz.

The Pleasanton Police Department has informed Building Kidz of Kurtz’ arrest. Building Kidz has since terminated Kurtz’ employment.

This is an ongoing investigation. The Pleasanton Police Department’s primary concern is for the victim in this case and respecting the victim’s request for confidentiality. If anyone has information regarding this case, they are encouraged to call the Pleasanton Police Department at (925)931-5100.
