Pittsburg Police Provide Information on Pair of Weekend Shootings

On Monday, the Pittsburg Police Department provided details on two shootings that occurred over the weekend less than a mile apart.

According to Captain Steve Albanese, the first incident was a response to shots fired while the second incident a male was shot in the torso after an assault.

Albanese said on Saturday, at 7:14 pm, officers responded to a report of multiple shots fired in the area of Crestview Drive and Alta Vista.  While responding to the area Officers received information that a vehicle had fled the scene.  Once on scene officers contacted witnesses who stated they had seen a subject firing a gun towards several subjects in the area.

He said no other subjects or victims were located at the scene. Officers did locate several handgun casings in the street where the witness observed the incident.  The suspect was described as a male wearing unknown clothing according to Albanese.

During the investigation no injuries were reported and the suspect(s) remains unknown.

The second shooting happened at 6:48 pm on Sunday in the 100 block of Alturas Avenue where they located a male suffering from two gunshot wounds to the mid-torso.

According to Albanese, the male was later transported to an area hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. The male told officers he was approached by three unknown males.  Two of these males began assaulting him and one was armed with a handgun, shooting him in the torso.

The victim was able to provide a limited description of the males; all of whom fled the area in an unknown direction said Albanese.

No additional information was released on either incident.
