Pittsburg Police Officer Crashes Responding to Bank Robbery, Road Closed Until 4:00 pm

by ECT

Just before 1:00 pm today, Pittsburg Police Officers responded to a bank robbery at the Wells Fargo Bank on Railroad Avenue (3001 Railroad Avenue). As one of our officers was responding with emergency lights and sirens to the location he collided with a vehicle on Loveridge Road and E. Leland Road.

The collision caused a chain reaction resulting in another vehicle and a motorcyclist being struck. The second vehicle and motorcyclist were stopped at the intersection at the time of the collision.

All occupants including a Pittsburg Police Officer have been transported to local hospitals. The extent of injuries are unknown at this point, I will provide an update on this as more information becomes available.

C.H.P. is investigating this collision, which is a standard Protocol when officers are involved in injury collisions. Pittsburg Police Officers are also on scene at the Wells Fargo Bank investigating the robbery. Initial indications are a note was passed by the suspect demanding money.
