Pittsburg Police: Man Assaulted His Mom, Barricaded Himself in Home

Shortly after 9am this morning, officers responded to a domestic incident in the 100 block of North Catamaran Drive a 65 year-old lady lives at the location with her 35 year-old son.

Officers contacted the lady at her neighbor’s home and learned that her son, who suffers from drug addiction, barricaded her inside the home last night and refused to allow her to leave. During this period, he assaulted her several times with a fireplace log poker while threatening to burn and kill her.

She was terrified that her son was going to kill her so she found an opportunity when her son wasn’t looking to unlock and flee out the rear/side door; she made it to the neighbor’s home.

Officers made several attempts to contact the suspect; however he refused to come to the door or answer his phone. Pittsburg Police SWAT team and negotiators were activated and responded to the location.

Negotiators and members of the SWAT were able to convince the suspect to peacefully surrender around 1:20 pm.

The suspect is in custody for false imprisonment and assault with a deadly weapon and will be transported to County. The victim is with family members.
