Pittsburg: Man Dies in Fatal Crash on Highway 4 Sunday Afternoon

by ECT

On Sunday afternoon, a 45-year-old male from Antioch died after a vehicle crash on Eastbound Highway 4 near Loveridge Road in Pittsburg.

At approximately 4:05pm, Contra Costa CHP received a call of a solo vehicle collision on eastbound Highway 4 just west of Loveridge Road in Pittsburg. Upon CHP and emergency medical personnel arrival, a silver Nissan Titan truck was off the road and resting against a tree, just south of Highway 4. The solo 45yr old male driver from Antioch, sustained massive trauma as a result of this collision and was pronounced deceased at the scene at approximately 4:12pm.

According to CHP, numerous witnesses observed this collision and the preliminary investigation indicates the Nissan was traveling on eastbound Highway 4 at an extremely high rate of speed and cutting in and out of traffic lanes. Then the driver made an unsafe turn to the right, lost control of the Nissan truck, and veered across all lanes and onto the right shoulder where it struck the curb, which caused the Nissan to overturn multiple times. After overturning, the Nissan collided with a tree, causing major damage, and came to rest against the tree.

CHP says it is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were involved in this collision.

If anyone has information regarding this collision or the events leading up to it, please contact Contra Costa CHP investigating Officer Cahoon at (925) 646-4980. Or you can also call 1-800-TELL-CHP.

Excellent! Love to see this kind of result for those turds that weave in and out of traffic. Too bad he had to risk everyones life on the highway to do it but this is a great result. One less idiot on the road!

The new danger of having wide open lanes on HWY4 east of Concord to west of Antioch. Instead of impatient drivers switching lanes with little distance gained, you have these maniacs swerving in and out of traffic at high rates of speed.
