Pittsburg: Driver Sustains Major Injuries After Striking Tree on W Leland Road

At 9:34 pm Wednesday, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters responded to a report of a vehicle versus a tree on W. Leland Road near Range Road in the city of Pittsburg.

It was reported that at least one occupant was trapped and upon arrival, firefighters confirmed the driver was pinned against a tree.

By 9:40 pm, firefighters stated the driver had “major” injuries and was freed from the vehicle by 9:55 pm.

No other information was available.

I believe the speed limit there is 35 MPH, it’s a nice wide section of road, it’s not raining, so I can’t think of any good reason why anybody would be wrapping their car around a tree there. I would have assume, as is most of these instances, stupidity is the root cause of this crash.

What IS IT with drivers hitting trees? This is the third time someone got a tree on S. Leland and then yesterday, some guy got a tree on Hillcrest in Antioch and several trees have been felled on Long Tree Way there as well.

At this rate, trees will be on the endangered species list!

Yes! Seems to be open season for trees!

Pg&es fault didn’t cut down trees. Law suit to follow.
