Pittsburg Diamonds Agree to Terms With Jose Canseco

Pittsburg, CA — ­ The Pittsburg Diamonds, a member of the Pacific Association of Professional Baseball Clubs located in the San Francisco Bay Area, have agreed to terms with free agent outfielder Jose Canseco. The former AL MVP returns to the East Bay where he enjoyed some of his greatest seasons of baseball. “We are excited to have Jose Canseco on the team, he will not only bring power and excitement to the ballpark, but will also be able to coach some of our players,” said Khurram Shah, majority owner of the Pittsburg Diamonds, “He has an incredible knowledge about hitting and playing the game at a high level.”

Jose Canseco was the American League Rookie of the Year, hitting 33 home runs while knocking in 117 RBI’s. He was the first player in MLB to go “40­40” as he hit 40 home runs and stole 40 bases, while also winning the American League Most Valuable Player award. He finished his impressive major league career with 462 career home runs, 1407 RBI’s, and a career .868 OPS.

“Jose will bring a lot of excitement and energy to the ballpark, and it will truly feel like he is coming home where he is adored by bay area fans,” said General Manager Tom Macari, “This gives fans a chance to meet Jose and watch a childhood hero on a daily basis.”

On Friday August 5th at Roddy Ranch golf course at 1:00pm, Jose will also participate in a golf tournament which also includes a banquet, hole in one competition, auction, and more! There will also be a pre­game home­run derby on Saturday August 6th at 5:00pm.
