At roughly 10:39 pm Friday, Contra Costa County Fire responded to several calls about a vegetation fire between Canada Valley Road and Highway 4 in Antioch.

Originally, it came in as a small fire but an American Medical Response (AMR) unit passing on the Highway confirmed the fire and suggested a wild land response—the call was upgraded from two engines to three additional units as a precaution.

In total, crews were on scene for nearly 90-minutes of a 10 acre burn as the terrain is familiar to crews as that is where they do there wild land training and control burns. Due to the location, they did perform structure protection as it backed up to Coachford Way and Banteer Way.

East Contra Costa Fire Protection District Units assisted CONFIRE on this fire.
