At 5:00 pm Friday, Contra Costa County firefighters responded to the 2700 block of Patricia Ave in Antioch for a report of a garage fire.
While responding, CONFIRE reported heavy smoke in the air. Upon arrival, they reported a working garage fire. Upon further investigation, a male was working on his vehicle’s gas line when it caught fire.
The vehicle and the garage were destroyed while the man suffered burns. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Firefighters remained on scene for nearly 2-hours and the estimated damage was just under $100,000.
The incident shut down Patricia Ave while crews worked and also caused traffic on Highway 4 from the smoke.
