In an effort to help stop the violence in Antioch, Victory Outreach held a Peace in the Streets city March and Community Rally Saturday at Contra Loma Estates Park.

The event was kicked off by a peace march on Sycamore and Manzanita Way and was followed by a free BBQ which features kids games, grocery giveaway, food giveaway and an abundance of resources.

Mayor Wade Harper urge those in attendance continues to focus on the good of Antioch

“Lets put some of the positive things out there, this is a great day in the City of Antioch,” said Harper. “I am so thankful for all of you that are here. This is not a one-day thing, all of these booths have resources that are available everyday from shelters to food. “

He explained that the City needs things for young people to do, but that the programs participating have resources to assist those who may need a little help.

This is the second community rally Victory Outreach has hosted, the first March Against Violence occurred on March 26.

Yawn.

Am I supposed to feel safe now that the mayor walked around this meet and greet and shook a few hands?

Pathetic.

He used it last night to distract from the fact that Rich Buongiorno has just declared him subject of recall and another man asked him to step down. Harper responded angrily ” It is not going to happen.” You can contact Rich on his Facebook page.

Let’s get real! Antioch can not afford to have a recall, Recall cost money, If so we could afford more officers, One person can not be blamed for the city problems. Its easy to sit and complain. Give solutions that are within the law, might be helpful.

Recall should really only be used if something illegal is done in my opinion. Others are of the opinion he doesn’t do his job. Right. If those folks want to go after a recall I am fine with it so long as they have figured out how to pay for it. Both gentlemen had very valid points
