At roughly 8:12 pm Thursday, Contra Costa County Firefighters responded to the 2500 block of Carpinteria and Banbury for a vegetation fire which threatened a home and PGE wires.

The incident sent smoke up in the air that could be seen in Oakley and flames could be seen from the Hillcrest onramp to Highway 4.

Upon arrival, CONFIRE requested a full vegetation response as a precaution which requested help from East Contra Costa Fire Protection District Engines 93 and 52.

According to neighbors, kids were playing on the hillside shortly before the fire began. Crews were on scene for just over 2-hours with the fire coming under control just after 9:00 pm.

Will update when more information is made available.

Looking on google maps, this could have gotten really ugly. Nice job to all the firefighters.
