by ECT

At 11:56 pm Monday, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District responded to a report of a residential structure fire in the 2400 block of Los Prados Way in the City of Antioch.

Upon arrival, engine 81 crews reported a working exterior fire between two homes with trees on fire that had extended into the attic. A second-alarm response was requested after the fire extended to a second home.

According to Battalion Chief Bob Atlas, he said crews battled some wind which aided in the quick spread of the fire which cypress trees were throwing some embers which likely caught the attic space of the next door on fire.  The fire was ultimately isolated to two homes.

An explosion was also heard which Atlas said was the gas and electric meter.

Contra Costa County Fire Investigators are investigating the fire. No injuries were reported.
