Antioch, CA — For the second time this season, the Malicious Monster Truck Insanity Tour came to Antioch Speedway and delivered an exciting show on both Friday and Saturday night. The heat on Friday affected the attendance, but Saturday night offered one of the biggest crowds seen at the venue all season.

Rock Star was once again in attendance, and each night that truck performed head and shoulders above the rest. California Kid also returned from the last appearance. Those two trucks seem to lead the charge, while Thunder Chicken turned in an inspired performance on Saturday night that had the crowd on their feet at the end of the show. Also in attendance were Cyclops and Hillbilly, a truck based out of Klamath Falls, Oregon.

Hillbilly had the most difficult weekend. The truck got stuck on one of the obstacles on the front straightaway during the show on Friday, and this forced the other competitors to alter their course the rest of the night. After spending the entire day getting the truck up and running, Hillbilly competed for part of Saturday but was unable to finish the program.

A few of the popular trucks were noticeably absent from the weekend festivities due to the tour also booking an event in Turlock, but they also offered the Jet Cart and the Megasaurus steel dragon for entertainment purposes. The Jet Cart thundered up and down the straightaway with a loud boom and fire trailing behind it. Megasaurus was there to feast upon one of the cars donated by the wrecking yard, which was definitely a sight to be seen.

Fans got to see Sapphire, the ride along truck. That truck was busy giving rides to the young fans throughout Friday and Saturday’s programs. All in all, it was another entertaining event by the Malicious Monster Truck Insanity Tour, who seems to be in big demand at several California venues this year.

The track turns its attention to crowning champions, starting with this Saturday night’s show. A packed lineup will include IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, Pacific Coast General Engineering Hobby Stocks and Xtreme Limited Late Models. All but the Late Models will decide their championships at this show, and just five points separate leader Nick DeCarlo from Kellen Chadwick in the Modified battle.
