by ECT

San Rafael, CA – On Wednesday, May 12, 2021, the San Rafael Police Department received a phone call from a Landscaping Company in Concord, Ca. They reported that one of their employees, David Nunez Sanchez, a 42-year-old resident of Pittsburg, failed to come home after working on a job in San Rafael on Tuesday, May 11, 2021.

On May 12, 2021, a representative of the company drove out to the job site in San Rafael (an apartment complex on North Avenue) and located Nunez Sanchez’s work truck. The truck was locked, and the employee did not enter the vehicle but instead called SRPD.

SRPD Officers responded out to the area and learned that Nunez Sanchez was reported missing by a family member to Pittsburg PD on May 11, 2021 after he did not return home from his workday. When Officers checked his work truck, they located Nunez Sanchez’s cell phone and his lunchbox which had uneaten food in it. Officers began to search the area for Nunez Sanchez. After searching the area for about 40 minutes, they located Nunez Sanchez who was deceased, and it appeared that he was deliberately buried under brush and branches.

SRPD Detectives went to Concord to interview the three other employees who were at the job site on May 11, 2021 in San Rafael. The detectives learned that Nunez Sanchez was the supervisor of the work crew and he drove a separate vehicle to the job site apart from the three employees. All three employees worked with Nunez Sanchez that morning but when they finished the job, they all told Detectives that when they left the job site, they saw Nunez Sanchez’ work truck still at the San Rafael job site. They knew he was supposed to be in Oakland at another job but assumed he was still working the San Rafael job site despite not seeing him when they left.

One of the employees, Miguel Jimenez Alejandre, a 33-year-old resident of Baypoint, Ca., was questioned at length regarding his interaction with Nunez Sanchez that morning. After an extensive interview, Alejandre confessed to the Detectives that he killed Nunez Sanchez. The manner of death and motive are not being released at this time.

Alejandre was placed under arrest by SRPD Detectives and was transported to the Marin County Jail where he was booked for 187 PC-Murder.
