On August 1, 2014, at approximately 12:21 pm, the Antioch Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the area Golf Course Rd and Judsonville Dr with a male who could be heard yelling for help. When officers arrived, they located a 32 year old male victim who had been shot several times by an unknown suspect (s).
Officers performed first aid until medical units arrived. The victim was taken to a local area hospital in serious condition, but as of this writing, is expected to survive. The case is still under investigation.
According to family, the man who was shot was a military veteran. A total of 9 shots were fired and the man was shot 3 to 4 times.
No further information was released by Antioch Police.

This man was more than a “veteran” … he was a severely wounded Marine that served 3 tours in Iraq and was a devoted husband and father. A truly great American and this was a coward that would do this…cowards!!!

Antioch is not a thug world. I have lived here nearly 50 years. Unfortunately we have some landlords that don’t give a damn how they get their money. Take care of them and Antioch will improve. Sue the landlords in small claims for running down our neighborhoods. They are the responsible s and it is a valid legal claim. We ALL need to do it.
Sorry Julio but Antioch is a thug infested city and not the one we once knew. Antioch will never recover from this damage that has been done over the years. Landlords rent to ghetto rats because of what Antioch is now. Good, hardworking people do not want to raise their children in this crap hole. That leaves landlords in a position to rent to section 8 and once they do they really don’t have any control. Good luck with suing every landlord for renting to section 8.
Antioch has ghetto rats BECAUSE of the landlords, Landlords were here first and lowered the standards. I have raised children and they have raised their children here. All are involved in this community and do not consider it a crap hole. They clean up around town and paint over graffiti. There is about 5% in this city who cause all the trouble. Quit bitching and help clean it up.
Sorry Julio, you are mistaken about your statistics. I applaud the fact that you are upstanding and have taught your children good values. Please dont take what i said as an insult to you nor was not bitching about the city. I know what the city was, is and has become. You can’t blame all the problems on the landlords, as they are not the one committing the crime. I do agree that they bare responsibility but they are not the root cause. The root cause would be the city councils that began the uncontrolled growth. Now you have a council that is unable to deal with the problems based on the lack of money and skill. When it all shakes out the city is a crime plagued city that will not be able to crawl out of the hole that it has been kicked into.

The problem is all the section 8 public housing that has brought Richmond & Oakland thugs out to this area. I live in Oakley and I can already see Oakley following Antioch ever since the affordable housing apartments opened up by Raleys. These thugs want to live where it’s nice but they don’t want to take care of the homes they are given and want to continue there life of street crime; well if that’s the case they should just keep their asses in Oakland instead of bringing their Ghetto ways and destructing once safe communities. Maybe if affordable housing standards were more strict it wouldn’t be so readily available for thugs. I guess when you don’t have to worry about buying groceries or paying rent that leaves them with too much time on their hands to shoot peoole and do drug deals. It’s the states fault for rewarding bad behavior and making life too easy for these worthless scum bags!!! Why would they get jobs and be productive members of society when they can have kids all over the place get high and walk around feeling ballsy because they got a gun in their waste band. I fear for the children of the future because the world is so corrupt violent and brutal and has continued to escalate at such a rapid pace that 10 years from now people will be scared to leave their homes!!!!! Doesn’t help that Antiochs mayor himself looks like a pimp and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s running some street gang related stuff on the side because he sure hasn’t done or said much to address the violence that is claiming the streets. But as long as us “middle class working americans” remain the minority there is really not much we can do being we are out numbered!!!

Now in my opinion that statement is ignorance. There are many wonderful black people in our community. Some of my best clients and friends are black. Imagine if they chose not to do business with me because I’m white. We are all gods children. The hatred in your statement is one reason there continues to be racial division. I have a son who is serving our country as we speak and I don’t condone the brutal attack on any person. My heart goes out to his family. There are many problems with youth in general. It’s scarry.. there seems to be a lack of accountability. I doubt these kids just wake up one day and decide to be criminal.
We have taken god out of schools and have made parents fearful of spanking. Back in the day I had my butt spanked if I did wrong. They Even Had Paddles IN school…. I’m Not Damaged From Such Offenses. Not fair for us regular hard working people who want to live in peace. Can’t afford to move out of Antioch . My parents live there and now I am sacred:(. And that’s good part of Antioch very sad .
I grew up in Antioch but moved away over ten years ago. I rarely go out there and it had been nearly a year since I had gone by my old neighborhood in the Gentrytown/Putnam area. I thought the same thing about the area being like a ghost town for businesses. A lot of hoodlums around the area especially the apartments. Saw an obvious drug deal as I drove past them. I felt very comfortable walking around the entire town at any hour and now I would be looking over my shoulder during the day and doubt I would venture out at night alone or unarmed.

I don”t hate or dislike black or any color. The truth is when the people from the ghettos started migrating out here on Section 8 vouchers the city turned voilent. I held a job that corrolated with Deer Valley busing in students. Students were from low income areas. Parents were waiting on their Section 8 Vochers to move out here. That is where our downward spiril started. These were black people and they were not nice people I was dealing with. There were rude and reeked ghetto. I listen to discussions of boyfriends getting out of prison, how they were coming to live with them. I believe that’s not how Section 8 is set up. They swore under oath they had permanent residence here, than they would discuss going back to their permanent residents in Oakland or SF. They had no shame in lying. They didn’t care they were blurting out in front of me they did not live here. So anytime you Liberal folks can stop defending them. And if you are black and do the right thing, you don’t need to defend your race. I’m not proud when I see white trash. It’s okay for you to be pissed off when your race is being a big screw up! People need to stop looking the other way. This is why the society is a on a decline morally.
