May 28-June 3: Antioch Police Briefs

According to Antioch City Manager Steve Duran, he reported in his weekly update that the Antioch Police Department had 1,700 calls for service netting 89 arrests.

Of those arrests, 33 were felony and 56 were Misdemeanor and 3 DUI’s. His timeline is May 28-June 3 which runs differently than Antioch Police weekly reports.

Antioch-PD-Traffic-1Traffic Enforcement Returns
Effective 6/3/2015, Officer Robert Solari was assigned as a full-time traffic motor officer. Officer Solari’s primary duties will be vehicle code enforcement and accident investigations. It was possible to make this assignment due to improved officer staffing.

Theft Suspect Punches Loss Prevention, Later Arrested
On 5/28/2015 at 1:35 pm, officers responded to Macy’s regarding loss prevention personnel observing 20 year old Gary Sinclair select items and then leave without paying for them. Loss prevention personnel attempted to detain Sinclair and recover the items. Sinclair punched a loss prevention employee, dropped the stolen merchandise, and fled on foot. Based on the suspect description and review of surveillance video, an officer identified the suspect as Sinclair. The officer was familiar with Sinclair from prior contacts. Upon checking the area of Sinclair’s last known address on Hudson Court, Sinclair was observed standing outside the complex office and was taken into custody without incident. He was booked at the county jail.

 Suspicious Activity Nets Warrant Arrests
On 5/29/2015 at 12:05 am, officers responded to the area of Patricia Ave and E.Tregallas Rd on the report of a male and female carrying bags and pillows. The caller also advised they were associated with a panel van in the area. Officers arrived and contacted 27 year old Christina Boyd and 26 year old Jordan Crume. A records check revealed Boyd had an outstanding arrest warrant for theft, forgery and possession of stolen property. Crume also had a warrant for his arrest for the charges of possession for sale of a controlled substance. Boyd was issued a notice to appear and released, and Crume was booked at the county jail.

 Antioch Police Nab Suspect in Brentwood Armed Robbery
On 6/1/2015 at 1:45 am, Brentwood police officers responded to the report of an armed robbery at the 5 Guys restaurant at 5769 Lone Tree Way in Brentwood. Dispatch broadcasted a description of the suspects who had used a crowbar to assault the victim. An Antioch police officer was nearby and began an area check for the suspects. The officer located and detained the two 16 year old suspects in front of Target store on Lone Tree Way in Antioch. The suspects were about to get into a car to flee the area. The two were identified as the robbers and found to be in possession of the victim’s property. The suspects were turned over to Brentwood officers.

Stolen Vehicle Stop Nets $220k Warrant Arrests
On 6/1/2015 at 9:11 pm, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of D St and W. 10th St. There were paper plates on the car and when they conducted a records check on the vehicle identification number the vehicle was identified as being reported stolen out of the city of Pittsburg. The four occupants were taken into custody without incident. The driver, 24 year old Morgan Scales, also had an outstanding arrest warrant with a bail of $220,000 for the charges of vehicle theft and possession of stolen property. One of the passengers, 28 year old Vernon Smith, was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Scales was booked at the county jail and Smith was issued a citation. The two remaining passengers were released without charges.

 Argument Leads to Warrant Arrests
On 6/2/2015 at 1:58 pm, officers were dispatched to 2200 Sycamore Dr. on the report of subjects arguing inside an apartment. Upon their arrival, officers contacted 23 year old Kearris Hall. A records check revealed he had an outstanding parole violation warrant with no bail. Hall was taken into custody without incident and booked at the county jail.

 Pizza Delivery Driver Makes Up Robbery Story
On 6/3/2015 at 6:33 pm, 19 year old Diego Guizar called dispatch to report that he had been robbed at knife point while delivering pizza in the 4500 block of Delta Fair Blvd. While providing the information to dispatch it was learned the “robbery” occurred actually 20 min before he called. Guizar provided a very specific description of the assailants and their getaway vehicle. We re-contacted his last known delivery location and discovered there were active cameras in the parking lot where Guizar stated he was robbed. We reviewed the video which showed no robbery had occurred. Guizar was re-contacted and admitted that he had made up the story. He stated he actually made another delivery and left his vehicle unlocked. When he returned, $350 dollars was missing. Fearing he was going to get into trouble at work, he conjured up the robbery story. He was issued a citation released from the scene.

 Man Passed Out in Park Arrested on Stolen Vehicle Charges
On 6/4/2015 at 5:54 am, officers responded to S. Lake Pl. on the report of a male who was passed out in an Acura parked at the location. Officers arrived and detained 32 year old Gerald Delgado. A records check indicated the Acura was clear in the stolen vehicle system. Officers requested Pittsburg PD contact the registered owner in their city. Upon doing so, Pittsburg PD determined the Acura had been stolen during the night and the registered owner was unaware it was missing. Delgado was determined to be on felony probation for brandishing a knife and assaulting police officers. He was booked at the county jail.
