March 28: Antioch Chamber to Host Breakfast With the Mayor

by ECT

On March 28, the Antioch Chamber of Commerce is hosting a special Breakfast With the Mayor event held at Markstein Sales Company.

At the event, Mayor Sean Wright will provide chamber members information on a variety of topics and update future plans.

“This is a breakfast to update Chamber Members on all the great projects and activities that we are working towards in the City of Antioch,” said Antioch Mayor Dr. Sean Wright. “The message will be focused towards businesses, but all are welcome to attend.”

Hosted at Markstein Sales Company (1645 Drive In Way in Antioch), the breakfast will take place from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM in the conference room and feature a continental breakfast and a message from the Mayor of Antioch Dr. Sean Wright.

The breakfast will be free for Chamber members, and $20 for non-members.

An RSVP is required to attend, and attendance will be capped at 60 to accommodate safety requirements of the facility in use.

“In the past, we’ve provided opportunities like this for our membership to have dialogue with our city manager, chief of police, and city council members,” said Antioch Chamber of Commerce CEO Richard Pagano. “This event is an opportunity for members to voice concerns to our Mayor, and an opportunity for the Mayor to share projects he and his fellow council members are working on with city staff as well as accomplishments they’ve achieved.”

According to Pagano, after the speaker is provided the opportunity to share items of importance, those in attendance have the opportunity to ask questions afterward. Amongst the items on the agenda to discuss are the future around Somersville, Downtown, BART, and the Northern Waterfront.

“The Antioch Chamber prides itself on consistently achieving our mission of PAGE (Promote Community, Advocate for Business, Grow Business, Economic Development),” added Pagano. “To that end, we work diligently to advocate for business with government.”

While this is the first time such an event has taken place, it is hoped that Chamber members will see the value and importance in the opportunity to speak with the Mayor pertaining to issues facing the business community, so that similar meetings could be hosted in the future with greater frequency. In addition, a special “State of the City” lunch event will also take place at 12:00 PM on Friday May 17 and will be open to the public for $20-$25. Mayor Wright, the chief of police, and the city manager will be sharing sides from their perspective.

Added Wright, “This is the first time we’ve held the event, but if the business community enjoys it, I could be doing it again next year.”
