Lori Ogorchock Set for Antioch Mayoral Run

by ECT

Antioch Mayor Pro Tem Lori Ogorchock announced Thursday that she has filed her paperwork and will run for the mayor’s seat this November.

Ogorchock received the most votes in the 2014 election in a crowded 8-candidate race collecting 23.34% of the vote.

She has been one of the most outspoken councilmembers against the business as usual way of conducting city business. She also has been marginalized by Mayor Harper after requesting items be placed on the agenda only to see the requests be ignored.

4th of July Parade Antioch IMG_5126Ogorchock was the driver to change policy implemented by Mayor Wade Harper who failed to place items onto the agenda until at least three councilmembers nodded in agreement. Under the new policy unanimously approved in February, items requested by councilmembers would be placed onto the agenda within 6-months.

Ogorchock has also been vocal about finding ways to bring more Community Service Officers to the City of Antioch while calling for more transparency on Measure C Spending to ensure its not going into the general fund.

She released the following statement:

“I feel in my heart of hearts that I am the catalyst that can move our city forward in a productive and positive direction.  I have the will, desire, tenacity and the relationships to work with our sister cities to bring what is needed w/to our city.  I do not give up easily and will fight for the rights of us the citizens of Antioch.

My work schedule as a Realtor allows me the flexibility to meet the needs and demands of the community, to be present, which I am very proud to say, I am!

Community first: I want to spend time – real time – together. Time for conversation and interaction to deepen our sense of community. With your help, I’m here to grow and learn more. I feel most satisfied when I’ve truly affected another person positively and contributed to our community. We may have more than 100,000 residents in our city but it’s one community – our community. Let’s do this together – not divided but united.

Budget smart: Our city will thrive if we spend within our means. We have to be disciplined and responsible with our finances. Let’s make smart budget decisions. What we spend now will have a huge impact on the city’s future in the few years.

Measure C: Passed by the voters of Antioch, the money from this ballot measure are for police, code enforcement and community services officers. We need to be diligent in overseeing how these promised funds are utilized, that there is no leakage into a general fund or that these funds aren’t used as intended. Transparency on how we spend the bond is vital, along with clear communication to all how it’s being used.

Advocate for veterans: I’m working with the DAV and American Legion to create a program where veterans, who are hospitalized, have visits from fellow vets who truly understand their situation. My goal is to bring much-needed veteran services to Antioch, and have already begun to lay the foundation by reaching out to local politicians about the needs. It’s shameful and unbelievable the struggle veterans go through to get benefits they were promised. Those who fought to protect our freedom and country should not have to fight for medical coverage.

You will NOT find another man or woman that will dedicate their time and attention to YOU the citizens of Antioch as I will.

Antioch: My Home, My Community, My Life”

On Saturday, Ogorchock will host a pancake breakfast for residents to meet and talk with her about Antioch issues. The event is from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Antioch City Park located at 1050 A Street in Antioch.

The mayors race will be a four-person race with Mayor Wade Harper seeking re-election, Mayor Pro Tem Lori Ogorchock, Sean Wright and Murillo.

ECT is only half right. Not only was Lori Ogorchock marginalized by Harper but Monica Wilson was frequently marginalized and he frequently called on her last.

This mayor has to go. I will be deciding between Ogorchock and Wright.

Mr. Harper has marginalized many people speaking in front of the council also. It is his habit to make snide comments about the speaker after they have spoken. Having taken the brunt of these comments and filing a complaint with the then city attorney, I quit going to city council meetings. Nothing was done on my complaint. His treatment of Mrs. Orgorchalk and Ms. Wilson has been blantant. I imagine this is the way he treats his wife also.

I support Mrs Orgorchalk because she is the only council member willing to support citizens in Antioch.

I have to apologize to Lori for misspelling her name. I am just tired. I know, no excuse! Sorry Lori.

Antioch desperately needs individuals who view their election to the city council or any other political office as a one time commitment and if they do their job well and accomplish goals that are in the best interests of residents, then and only then should Antioch voters give them the privilege of serving a second term in office.

Ogorchuck is just like her other council members- another person filling a seat while doing absolutely nothing. She can offer no personal accomplishments while on the council.

Dr Wright is by far one of the most qualified mayoral candidates in years. He has shown us his ability to bring people together and get results. Call up (don’t email- these folks, they need to show that they can think on their feet and not use others to craft their answers) these mayoral candidates with three questions: What do you think about (pick a topic)?, How would you solve (name a problem)? What makes you qualified to run for this office?

I know that if you compare each of these individuals you will find Dr Wright will understand the issues, have ideas on how to solve them and will have evidence that he is qualified to be mayor. The others not a chance.

Wright has intelligence, character and isn’t interested in the spotlight. He will put Antioch in front instead of himself.

Sean Wright is most qualified? How does one come up with that conclusion? The voters in 2008 who gave him under 10% of the vote when he ran for Antioch School Board? Sure, he serves as Chamber of Commerce CEO but that is much different than trying to get this done as an elected. At least Lori knows the process. She is the best candidate of the bunch.

Sean will not even beat Harper in this election.

I must say i think Lori should win. I remember her from when she was working at Starbucks part time. She was a very nice woman and i hope she can do what it takes to change this city. I never heard of the other people who are running besides Harper. I only know of Harper cause i have noticed no one likes him. People know of Lori and its not anything negative. I think the other people running should have been a little more out in public for others to notice.
