July 16-22: Antioch Police Briefs

Between July 16-22 the Antioch Police Department had 1,520 calls for service which netted 55 arrests according to Antioch City Manager Steve Duran.

Of those arrests, 26 were felony, 29 misdemeanors along with 1 DUI. Here is a recap of events provided in the City Manager, Steve Durans, weekly report.

California Highway Patrol & Antioch Police perform traffic enforcement in Antioch

APD & CHP Issued 74 Traffic Tickets
During the morning hours of 7/21/2014, four California Highway Patrol motors officers worked with Antioch Traffic Motor Officer Solari enforcing various vehicle code violations in Antioch. In approximately four hours, these officers wrote 74 hazardous moving citations, towed one vehicle and gave five warnings.

The most egregious violation was a motorist traveling approximately 68 miles per hour in a 35 mile an hour zone.

Man Arrested After Traffic Collision
On 7/22/2015 at 11:59 pm, officers responded to the 2000 block of Mokelumne Dr. on the report of a traffic collision. Upon their arrivals, officers located a Chevy Silverado parked on the side yard of a home next to a tree. A male was sitting in the drivers’ seat of the truck and was the sole occupant. He was identified as 23 year old Daniel Estrada. Estrada was not injured but was exhibiting symptoms of being intoxicated. He was placed under arrest and transported to the county jail where he submitted to a blood draw. It was determined Estrada did not reside at the residence.

Man Arrested After Trespassing and Probation Violation
On 7/21/2015 at 10:26 am, officers responded to the Starbucks at 2504 Somersville Rd. regarding 53 year old Michael McKee, who is a habitual aggressive panhandler. He was recently given several trespass notices for this location and advised not to return. When warned today, he was belligerent with the employees and refused to leave. When officers arrived, McKee attempting to flee. He was arrested for trespass and a probation violation and booked at the county jail.

Man Arrested After Jewelry Store Burglaries
On 7/21/2015 at 8:12 am, an officer was patrolling W.20th St. and saw 31 year old Deandre Brewer in a parked vehicle. The officer was aware Brewer had a warrant issued as a result of a Brentwood PD investigation regarding (4) jewelry store burglaries. As officers converged on the area, Brewer fled at a high rate of speed in the vehicle and officers gave chase. Brewer’s female passenger attempted to exit the car prior to the pursuit, but he pulled her into the car and held onto her. She told Brewer to stop and to let her out several times, but he refused. When she attempted to exit the car, he continued pulling her back. Brewer ran a stop sign at Drake and “G” Street and was struck by a passing vehicle. The collision disabled Brewer’s car and he fled on-foot. Officers gave chase and Brewer was quickly taken into custody. There were no injuries as a result of the collision. Brewer was medically cleared at SDMH and later transported to the MDF. A large amount of jewelry was recovered in the car, and it was determined to be loot from an Antioch jewelry store burglary earlier that morning. Antioch and Brentwood Police Detectives are working together on this investigation. Brewer was booked at the county jail.

Man Arrested On Outstanding Warrant
On 7/21/2015 at 1:34 am, an officer observed 31 year old Christopher Martin walking in an alley in the 2300 block of Peppertree Way. He made contact with Martin and a records check revealed he had an outstanding arrest warrant for possession of a controlled substance as well as being a felon in possession of a firearm. Martin was arrested for the warrant and booked at the county jail.

Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant
On 7/20/2015 at 11:32 pm, an officer was patrolling the area of the 2500 block of Somersville Rd. and observed 34 year old Melvin Russell walking in the area. The officer was aware Russell had an outstanding arrest warrant for petty theft. Russell was contacted, arrested, and later released with a new court date.

Man Asleep in Stolen Vehicle Arrested
On 7/20/2015 at 8:40 pm, officers responded to a suspicious vehicle call in the area of Oakley Road and Viera Avenue. Upon their arrival, they located the vehicle and ran the license plate. The vehicle license plate returned stolen out of Antioch. Officers located 41 year old Juan Fernandez asleep inside the vehicle. Fernandez was taken into custody without incident and later booked at the county jail.

Female Arrested on Outstanding Warrant

On 7/20/2015 at 4:59 pm, an officer observed 26 year old Jessica Tourville walking near W.10th and “L” streets. The officer knew her from prior contacts and ran her for warrants. She had an outstanding arrest warrant for being under the influence of a controlled substance. Tourville was taken into custody and booked at the county jail.

Man With Blood Alcohol Level of .23 Arrested after 5 car accident
On 7/19/2015 at 8:45 PM, officers responded to a report of a five car collision at Deer Valley Rd. and Bluerock Dr. When officers arrived they determined George Loftus, 46 years old, was traveling on Bluerock Dr. and attempted to make a right turn on to Deer Valley Rd. Loftus failed to properly negotiate the turn which resulted in his vehicle traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of traffic. He collided with several vehicles. One person was transported to the hospital and another was treated at the scene and released. Loftus exhibited symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol and was arrested for drunk driving with injuries. Loftus completed a breath test and had a .23 BAC. He was booked at the county jail.

Man Tased, Arrested After Resisting Arrest
On 7/19/2015 at 1:45 am, an officer saw a suspicious vehicle parked in the church lot at E.18th St. and Evergreen Ave. The vehicles passenger door was open. The officer approached the car and found 48 year old Tyree Conerly occupying the passenger seat. A cover officer arrived and a warrant check revealed Conerly had an outstanding arrest warrant for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia with a bail of $7500. When told he had a warrant, Conerly replied that he did not have a warrant and was not going to return to jail. Conerly refused to exit the car and resisted when the Officers tried to remove him. Conerly grabbed on to one officer and the second officer tased him. Conerly was taken into custody without further incident and was booked at the county jail.

Trio Smoking Marijuana Leads to Arrest, Later Cite Released
On 7/18/2015 at 6:06 pm, officers responded to the 4200 block of Reimche Dr. regarding a suspicious vehicle occupied by at least two males who were possibly smoking marijuana. When officers arrived, they located the vehicle with three occupants inside who had been smoking marijuana. One of the occupants was identified as 23 year old Luis Augustine-Munoz. A records check revealed he was on probation for weapons charges. A search of his person revealed both cocaine and methamphetamine. He was arrested and later cite released on his charges. The other occupants were released at the scene.

Suspect Arrested on Multiple Warrant Charges
On 7/17/2015 at 1:41 pm, an officer contacted 24 year old David Ralph-Thomason in the Romi’s parking lot at 418 East 18th St. The officer was aware Ralph-Thomason had an outstanding arrest warrant with No Bail for Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Resisting Arrest and Failure to Comply with Probation. Ralph-Thomason was taken into custody without incident and booked into the county jail.

Suspect Arrested After Short Pursuit Through Yards
On 7/17/15 at 10:00 am, 34 year old Michael Kyle was spotted exiting a stolen car near W.5th and “D” streets. When the officer attempted to contact him, he fled through the rear yards of several residences. A perimeter was quickly established. Kyle was taken into custody a couple blocks away without incident by a perimeter unit who was partnered with a canine. He was booked at the county jail on vehicle theft charges and resisting arrest. He was also determined to have an outstanding arrest warrant for failing to appear in court.

Firearms Located, 3 Arrested on Lemontree
On 7/16/2015 at 8:30 pm, officers responded to 2109 Lemontree Way on the report of a subject possessing a handgun. Officers arrived at the location and made contact with 30 year old Andre Young, 25 year old Jarrik McKinney and 20 year old Clinton Wilson. Officers located two loaded handguns in the bushes where the trio was standing. One of the guns was reported stolen during an armed robbery in San Leandro. All three males were arrested and booked at the county jail.

Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant
On 7/16/2015 at 8:54 am, an officer observed 32 year old Joshua Jacobson in the 7-11 store located at 2700 Hillcrest Avenue. The officer was aware Jacobson had an outstanding No Bail warrant for violating the conditions of his release. Jacobson ran outside as he saw officers approaching and was detained in the parking lot. A short struggle ensured and he was taken into custody. He was later booked at the county jail.
