Public humiliation is the dishonoring showcase of a person especially in a public place. It was regularly used as a form of punishment in former times (pillories, shame badges, flogging), and is still practiced by different means in the modern era. In the U.S. it was common in the 19th century and fell out of common use in the 20th century, though it has seen a revival starting in the 1990s, reaching its apex with local police briefs and public name shaming.

It’s called reporting. People have a right to know who is committing what crime and where.

No judgement, just making an historical comparison. Before the internet, society had to use different means. We are grateful for ECT taking the time to report these.

We do have a question though: if any of these individuals are found innocent later in a court of law, and these internet postings of their names and actions are still posted for all to see, are there any corrections made to the tarnished reputations of the wrongfully accused individuals?

First of all, who is “we”? This information is coming from the City of Antioch who is providing the information on the arrest, not the trial.

There is no answer to when someone is found innocent or not guilty, and this site does not care about that.

We provide public information, the public has a right to know who is being arrested or not.

Hang in there ECT. You do a fantastic job!

Yes, I’m sure transient Bryan “Goldilocks” Wilson innocently broke into somebody’s home and innocently took a nap in a stranger’s bed.
