Antioch, CA — Bobby Hogge IV won the 25 lap IMCA Modified Main Event Saturday night at Antioch Speedway. This was the Seventh Annual Hetrick Memorial race, and the third win for Hogge in this event. The two-time Antioch champion was winning his 76th career race at the track, and it was also his 100th career IMCA sanctioned victory.

Past Hetrick Memorial winner Randy McDaniel took the early lead ahead of Hogge, but a low pass in Turn 4 of the fourth lap put Hogge into the lead. McDaniel continued to hold second with defending race winner Troy Foulger moving into third on Lap 7. Gary Hetrick crashed in Turn 2 for a lap 10 yellow flag. Hogge continued to lead McDaniel and Foulger on the restart. However, Foulger went low in Turn 1 on Lap 13 to take second. In the waning laps, Foulger kept it close, but Hogge prevailed in the end. Kellen Chadwick ended up third ahead of McDaniel and incoming point leader Nick DeCarlo.

Kenny Shrader won the 20 lap IMCA Sport Modified Main Event. In the process, he won his second-straight $750 first prize in the IMCA Sport Modified portion of the program. Tommy Fraser led the pack to the green flag, but he unfortunately spun for a complete restart. Chester Kniss led a lap before Andrew Pearce took over, but a Turn 3 Kniss spin forced a Lap 3 yellow flag. Shrader led the restart ahead of Pearce and Mark Garner. Fred Ryland took third from Garner on Lap 6. Following a Lap 13 yellow flag, Shrader was getting plenty of pressure from Pearce, Ryland and KC Keller. Ryland went low to take second from Pearce on the final lap, but Shrader prevailed at the checkered flag. Keller settled for fourth ahead of Garner.

Garrett Corn won the 20 lap IMCA Stock Car Main Event, enabling the Merced Speedway star to collect the $600 payoff. Incoming point later Travis Dutra took the early lead over Joe Gallaher, but Fred Ryland gained second by Lap 3. Corn took second from Ryland on Lap 5. By the midpoint of the race, Corn started challenging Dutra for the lead as Steven Johnson took third from Ryland on Lap 10. An inside pass on the frontstretch on Lap 15 put Corn into the lead. Corn pulled away from Dutra to score the win. Johnson settled for third ahead of Ryland and Gallaher.

Les Friend won the 20 lap Pacific Coast General Engineering Hobby Stock Main Event. This was his second $500 victory in the Hetrick Memorial race, and he led from the outset. Reigning champion Larry McKinzie Jr was an early second ahead of past champion James Thomson. Following a Lap 6 yellow flag, Friend led Grayson Baca and point leader Misty Welborn on the restart. Welborn started challenging Baca for second and made a low pass in Turn 4 on Lap 15 to claim the position. Unfortunately, Welborn spun a lap later, collecting Thomson in the incident. Friend continued to lead Merced racer Derek Ogden, whom he would beat by a straightaway to the checkered flag. Baca settled for third ahead of Chris Long and Thomson.

Racing continues next Friday and Saturday with the WSDCA Dwarf Car Nationals, hosted by the Delta Dwarf Cars. On Friday night, the Pacific Coast General Engineering Hobby Stocks and Wingless Spec Sprints will support the show. A night later, the Xtreme Scaffolding Limited Late Models and IMCA Stock Cars will be there.
