Fremont’s Gold Chain Robbery Suspect Is 20-Year-Old Antioch Resident

by ECT

On October 5, 2014, at approximately 5:30 p.m., an elderly couple was out for a walk in the area of Maybird Circle/Platinum Terrace in the Ardenwood neighborhood.  While they were walking in the eastbound direction on Maybird Circle, an unknown male walking in the opposite direction approached the couple and snatched a gold chain from the elderly female’s neck.

The woman’s husband gave chase to the suspect.  The suspect in return produced a handgun, pointed it at the husband and fired two shots into the air.  The suspect continued to flee and a third shot was fired for an unknown reason.

Witnesses observed the suspect enter a vehicle occupied by several females who appeared to have been waiting for him.  The observant witnesses were also able to provide officers with a description of the suspect and the license plate of the suspect vehicle.

Officers immediately began to follow up on this case and information was produced that led to the identification of the suspect.  Detectives obtained an arrest warrant and a search warrant for Dantay Freeman (20 years old/Antioch resident)

Due to the violence and weapon utilized in this crime, the Fremont Police SWAT team and Antioch PD assisted Detectives with efforts to locate and arrest Freeman on Tuesday, October 14, 2014.

Freeman was booked at the Fremont Jail on charges of armed robbery and assault with a firearm.  He is scheduled for arraignment at the Fremont Hall of Justice today, Thursday, October 16, 2014.

So, the carload of females watching him and waiting — were they from Antioch, too, or did he pick them off the street when he got there? Were they charged with anything? It looks as if our scummy, brutal, thug bottom-feeders are heading to other communities as a result of the heat being on here in Antioch.

Encouraging news that this lowlife was apprehended & hope his no-good companions are charged too. Discouraging how so many kids have no respect for themselves or others: BAD PARENTING.

Yes on O we need help with the thugs living in our town, they are now robbing people in all of the surrounding communities, we hear very little about what is going in the Walnut Creek and Lafayette. We have heard first hand that many of the arrests are coming from our area. This has to be a group effort and the landlords need to pay for their lack of Management of their properties, that our Police have to babysit.

The wannabe thug was taken into custody, but what happens to the car full of females aiding the fleeing suspect? Police need to track down the owner of the vehicle and take action. Glad to hear that the couple was not injured, but it is very traumatizing to have a firearm pointed in your direction.

At Least this thug went to Fremont instead of staying in Antioch for his stupid moves. Good thug to stay away from where you live to rape rob and pillage. APD needs a rest once in a while. He was such a good boy too. He planned to go to college and be somebody. Send that pos away for good. It is almost as bad as child molesters to rob and pillage the elderly.

As a senior citizen in Antioch 48 years Dale I could not agree with you more. YES on O. The next thing we should start doing is suing these landlords for damages to our neighborhoods. Lowering of our home values etc. Yes we CAN do that.
