Firefighters Limit Vegetation Fire to 5 Acres in Pittsburg

by ECT

On Sunday, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District was dispatched to a report of a vegetation fire in the area of W Leland Road and at John Henry Johnson Pkwy threatening a home.

Upon arrival, crews located a vegetation fire approximently 1/4 acre in size and was threatening an abandoned structure.

A second alarm unit was requested so they could have both structure protection and vegetation responses. Within 30-minutes the fire grew to a little over an acre.

By 7:15 pm, the vegetation fire was contained to approximently 5 acres with a structure that was damaged. Crews were to remain on scene overnight due to wind and more mop up was expected Monday.  The cause of the fire was not known.
