At 8:27 am on January 18, Contra Costa firefighters and Antioch Police were dispatched a report of a residential structure fire on a report of an electrical box on fire.

While responding, Battalion Chief 8 stated for crews to be aware that given the description, it may be a possible grow house.

Fire crews arrived on scene to the 3100 block of Ponderosa Way off Putnam Street to locate a home filled with light smoke and the fire out.

According to Antioch Police, the home had a small marijuana grow of less than 10 plants and no arrest or charges would be filed per Antioch Police on scene.

Antioch Code Enforcement red tagged the home due to no electricity.

By 9:30 am, Contra Costa Fire Protection District was requested back to the scene to assist PG&E in the garage area.

According to CONFIRE, early indications appears there was no stealing of electricity and nothing illegal with the home, but rather it just caught fire. However, they still needed to investigate.

As of 9:47 am, crews remain on scene investigating.
